This is the BEST company to work for! Great people, wonderful benefits, and insurance starts right away.

Senior Recovery Analyst (Current Employee) Franklin, TN

ProsBenefits start right away, ample PTO time which also starts upon hire, discount for employee's, opportunity to grow, and the company includes all levels of employee's to let everyone know what is going on within the company. The pay is also excellent! Discounts include cell phone, travel, auto insurance, college, rental car, and many others. I have seen first hand at the opportunity to grow within the company in my short time there. The technology used within the company is top notch.

ConsA lot of changes, but with that said all companies change. Most of the time it is best for the company and helps the company to grow.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe management I deal with are great!

Excellent experience from the culture, management, and to the ability to telecommute full-time.

Associate Director (Current Employee) Dallas, TX

ProsThe opportunity to telecommute full-time. Compensation package is solid.

ConsIt's a large enterprise and consequently, change takes time. There's a lot of change, not always good and not always the fault of UHC, but it's constant and often inexplicable and ambiguous.

    Great place to work

Senior IT Architect Analyst (Current Employee) Minneapolis, MN

ProsWorking from home is the norm instead of the exception. UHG has really figured out how to do it the right way. Technology is cutting edge. Management is receptive to new ideas and getting away from the "old way" of doing IT and setting the curve instead of following it. This leads to some of the cons below, but those will improve in time. I am the most excited I have ever been about IT in a long, long time.

ConsChange is hard and painful. Lots of long hours and uncompensated overtime. UHG is a large company and moves at an iceberg pace like any other company of its size.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep pushing forward and evolving the culture to be fast, flexible and adaptive. There is a great opportunity to be a market leader in healthcare technology and UHG (Optum) is headed in the right direction.

My first job in corporate America

Data Provider Specialist (Current Employee) Trumbull, CT

ProsThis is the first job I ever had working for a large company. I loved everything about working for United, the people, the job itself, the hours, the pay and benefits, just an awesome place to work!

ConsWe recently found out from management that up to 50% of our department is being outsourced anytime from now to the next few months. I am heartbroken, I never loved going to work so much!

Advice to Senior ManagementPlease reconsider outsourcing jobs! We need people in the USA working. There are fewer jobs being posted for the company, I never want to leave UHC!

    New hire RN case manager

RN Case Manager (Current Employee) Greensboro, NC

ProsSmooth interview process, very friendly; online application submitted, call from HR a few days later to set up an HR phone interview; phone interview was a bit stiff-just info gathering/confirming with 1 situational question; call the next day from local hiring manager to set up face to face; job offer from HR the same day as face to face interview

ConsNone yet; compensation offered was over what I requested and benefits package generous! Seems great so far....

    Great No-Nonsense Company

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsThey are focused on achieving excellence in everything they do, relatively little 'political gamesmanship', the 'old boy network' does not live here. Focused on work/life balance. Many opportunities for growth and mentorship available.

ConsLarge company that grows by acquisition so there's a lot of inefficiency which can get frustrating and be a barrier. Large reliance on the 'shadow systems' that get things done when the 'official path' does not work.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep focusing on efficiency and thank you for encouraging growth and excellence.
