    Pros

This is a frendly place to work at. pay rate is fair, coffe is free. company has flexible time to work.

    Cons

Management unfair, slave drivers, some manager run in a dictator ship system. system and processes are not in place. Senior Designer are just Glorified Drafter. Anybody can have a title.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to implove, fallow industries standards, STOP Buddy system.

I worked at UniversalPegasus International full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Good health benefits, nice location in Houston. Offers participation in Charity work. Generous compensation

    Cons

Didn't feel like a positive or collaborative environment. Couldn't really get a feel for company culture. Morale seemed lowed; company felt very segmented. Things could be better as there has been quite a turnaround in senior management staff since I was there.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Value your employees. You are nothing without them.

    Pros

Decent pay & benefits. The work environment and employees are great to work with.

    Cons

Lack of direction from the top. Owned by a PE Group that has just sold the soul of the company to bankers. Knee-jerk planning for hiring and subsequent lay-offs with no long term thought process. BD support is nonexistent.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide a clear directive for how the company is going to grow the business and push initiatives out that support that direction.

    Pros

Friendly and comfortable work environment with people that get along well. You can gain field experience.

    Cons

The mentorship was very weak and they didn't do a good job of providing the necessary tools to succeed in the engineering environment. Not enough control over the client and their overall needs and always in a reactionary mode.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need some more strong mentors and better organization of tools and more structured use of the tools.

    Pros

Great benefits and 401k, 9/80 work schedule, some really good people work there

    Cons

Regular lay offs/poor employee morale. In a 6 month span there were 2 major lay offs based on loss of projects or no new business. Constant turnover/attrition of staff. Lots of baggage/attitudes still prevalent from the Ensco/ Pegasus days. Get over it, move on and for those that can't, show them the door.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get as lean as you need to be in one fail swoop. Then go out and land some decent projects and start to build your company again. There is a good core of some really strong people, but they need some direction and something to get excited about.

I have been working at UniversalPegasus International

    Pros

I joined Pegasus when the two companies, Universal ENSCO and Pegasus International, were still separate entities. Pegasus was a very employee friendly company; the bosses were very concerned with the well being of its employees. It was like working in a family. Then, over the course of the last two years, merger talks were held under the auspices of an outside investor, systems were unified, departments streamlined and the two were made as one, except that...

    Cons

... from the point of view of the employees, things have changed a lot. The relation between bosses and employees have not been the same, especially after some of the old time management people left. Departments where the old leaders are still there seem to maintain their old relationships, but where managers have changed the atmosphere has turned a bit uneasy. Things will probably settle down after a while, but for the time being... not every one is loving the change!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Improve communications between different "divisions" of the company. The offshore people do not seem to know that there are opportunities in the onshore group they might be interested in. The onshore doesn't bother to advertise their projects to the other groups. The international group is oblivious to what is happening in the other areas.
    - Be honest in communicating expectations; do not say that there is bright outlook for next year and then turn around and let old timers go. This makes the employees feel uneasy.
