I have been working at University of Cincinnati full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The university as a whole is awesome. The graduate students program are also being improved on a supply demand basis too

    Cons

The funding for research is going downhill so intellectual freedom is limited but the professors are supportive which makes up for it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

As an international student I would want the visa renewal process simplified but that's about it.

I have been working at University of Cincinnati

    Pros

As a student you learn a lot about office decorum. It is almost like a paid internship.

    Cons

    The work gets pretty repetitive.

I have been working at University of Cincinnati

    Pros

There are a lot of WONDERFUL things about working on a university campus. There is a lot of energy. You are able to play a role in students' lives.

    Cons

There isn't a pay scale in place to ensure that you are compensated for what you actually do. Whatever pay you hire on with is generally where you will stay unless you are able to change departments and your position. If you enjoy your job, that is actually a bad thing because to get a pay increase you HAVE to change departments!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Compensate those who actually work hard. There are people finishing degrees, playing on Facebook, and "hanging out" who make more than many who are working hard and can barely make ends meet. Pay people what they would get paid in private industry! As a university you pay less than what a first year teacher would make for someone with a masters is beyond comprehension.

I have been working at University of Cincinnati part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Flexible schedule, downtown to work on homework if you are a student. Other employees are fun to be around.

    Cons

Management does not make good decisions, leaving you to take the heat from all the angry customers. Other than that, there are no cons.

I have been working at University of Cincinnati full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Tuition remission is great. The are great opportunities to take a class or obtain a degree if you so choose while working. Ample vacation time and separate sick time.

    Cons

Salaries may not be as high as private companies. Some positions are tied to research grants, so when grant money runs out sometimes so do your job.

I have been working at University of Cincinnati part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

I enjoyed working with the freshmen, and very flexible hours. Developed a great network of both peer workers and underclassmen.

    Cons

Not a high paying job, also sometimes the students can be a pain in the neck. Also it is a little intimidating to start taking care of a group of freshmen

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

None really, maybe give more opportunities to work with higher ups, or collaborate with other learning communities. I think it'd be awesome to collaborate more with some of my peers.
