    Pros

    The health insurance and generous sick time....

    Cons

    Where to start? Poor management, worse supervision, union allows incompetent people to keep their job, no team atmosphere, increasing fees to work there, short staffing to save money......

    Advice to Management

    Look at your supervisors! They are a problem!

    Pros

    The internship was supposed to present opportunities to learn consulting and research and interact with students from other disciplines.Potential to connect with employers and build resume for post graduate job search. Potential to build portfolio of research work and presentation skills. If these things all actually happened it would have been a great experience. The one thing that was a plus was that it was a paid internship.

    Cons

    Though it is improving, the program still struggles to equal the Edge Lab program (which has been discontinued)-a disappointing discovery to hardworking students who devote their time and research to this program.Interns are often subject to favoritism and a highly disappointing lack of guidance. Not the opportunity its presented to be. Ridiculous amount of work hours without proper acknowledgement.Temperamental staff and inconsistent quality amongst student participants which was insulting after awhile.

    Advice to Management

    Bring back the Edge Lab or change the current staff and director and type of projects. In its present state the program is a disappointment to students.Do a better job of vetting students and staff so that the slackers and poor mentors are weeded out. The program also needs much more impressive projects.

    An under-performing and ignorant staff, an unprincipled and inexperienced elected leadership, the organization is unwilling to live up to its principles

    Advice to Management

    Re-build the entire staff and free yourself from the company union culture at UConn

    Pros

    This experience paid fairly well and had free housing and food and looks good when applying to graduate school programs.

    Cons

    I was ignored by my professor all summer.

    Pros

    Great co-workers, I made many great friends while working here. I also overcame my shyness by talking on the phone constantly with customers.

    Cons

    Very disorganized. None of the workers knew what was going on. Counselors were unhelpful.

    Advice to Management

    Demand better training for your employees.

    Pros

    Salaries are way above average and exceed anything in the private sector great benefits

    Cons

    Deans and Vice Provosts have supreme power and encourage a toxic environment through their lack of management skills and their interest in encouraging dissent and long-standing disputes. Deans/VP's have what they fondly call a "slush fund" which enables them to reward their staff with "merit pay". They do not have to defend how they distribute merit pay and unlike in the private sector where "bonuses" are one time lump sums of money - "merit pay" is added to the base salary. Which creates a very contentious environment.

    Advice to Management

    Send your Deans/VP's to AMA type management training. Do away with the merit pay system - it doesn't reward performers and is a huge waste of tax payers money

    Pros

    The students and alumni makes it a fantastic place to work. Beautiful campus grounds, talented students and great athletics team.

    Cons

    Not an organization you would want to work for. Incompetent directors, micromanagement, bad morale and very high turnover. Good employees but many of the best ones have left due to very bad management. Lies and vandictive games are also being played by upper management. Because the association is separate from the university, it allows for less "observation" by administration which allows for greater animosity.

    Advice to Management

    New leadership is needed including new directors. A very dysfunctional place to work. It's time for a change!
