I worked at University of Iowa full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

There's some great people who work in the chemistry department. Seek them out and you may have a good experience at this place.

    Cons

Corrupted chemistry department- you may be asked to 'make the average grade come out to an A' if you TA. University regulations require TAs to work a maximum of 20 hours per week on top of their class and research load, but you'll work much, much more than that due to abuse of the system. Don't like it? You won't get your degree. That's how it works. Stay away- there are much better departments out there.

    Advice to Management

Overhaul everything and treat your staff like human beings.

    Pros

If you can get hired for a permanent position. They great benefits and good hours. The problem is getting a permanent position out of college.

    Cons

Cannot get a permanent position out of high school unless you have a specialized medical degree and you know someone within the university that has connections.

    Advice to Management

Don't base the hiring process off experience. Someone could have 10 years experience but could be dumb as a board, doesn't work hard and can't get their job done.
