    Pros

I work in the CS department. Everyone is very helpful and ready to work with me. Always quick responses from staff and faculty.

I worked at University of Kentucky full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Supportive scientific community is essential for any scientist success and this place provides exactly that. Additionally, plenty of resources are available in your pursuit to finding answers to the scientific questions. If the you can't find what you need on campus, friendly staff is always there to help find it off campus.

    Cons

Graduate student housing should have more apartments available, especially for international graduate students, postdocs and scholars. Also, those apartments should be new or renovated.

I have been working at University of Kentucky full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

good working environment, nice people, good place to live. A middle size city which has everything, but not very crowded. I like Lexington, so U of Kentucky is a good place to work.

    Cons

U of Kentucky is a different employer now, especially after 2012. The new president cares more about making money and cut off a lot of research funding. I think UKY will eventually turns to a non-research school.

I have been working at University of Kentucky full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Most people are very friendly. Lexington is a mid-size college town. Lots of young people. Life is pretty convenient if you have a car. Good work-life balance. Living expense is relatively cheap compared with east and west coasts. The weather is usually nice, and has clear four seasons. Close to great smoky mountains and mammoth cave.

    Cons

Do not have too many R&D job opportunities in Kentucky. Sometime can feel boring since there are not too many entertainment in town besides cinemas, bars or restaurants.

    Pros

Supervisors were helpful while giving you freedom to develop your own courses. No micromanaging!

    Cons

There were not many connections made outside of Kentucky, or really even Lexington.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Higher stipend pay would be nice!
