I have been working at University of Manchester as an intern (more than 3 years)

    Pros

My supervisor, and many others within the department were amazing - very supportive and fair. Great collaborative environment promotes learning and team work skills.

    Cons

Some staff members are very unhelpful - if you're unlucky enough to come into contact with them. There is still a small fraction of elitism within academia, which soured my experience a touch.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I worked at University of Manchester as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Worked on a research project and learned new skills. Incredible atmosphere and a really nice supervisor. Discovered many opportunities and met new people from that research area.

    Cons

Sometimes you can get less supervision than expected but it is all fine because the project was so exciting and there is always someone around that can help if you ask the right questions.

    Pros

Great place to work - good staff benefits; you feel as though you are listened to and respected. Fantastic location close to the city centre. Congeniality amongst staff members.

    Cons

Lack of opportunities for promotion could be a concern.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep on doing what you are doing. Try to break new ground, and expand the number of courses you are given. Don't sell off the north end of campus. Utilise the former UMIST campus.
