I have been working at University of Massachusetts

    Pros

I love it here! Everyone is friendly to work with and very capable in their jobs.

    Cons

It is a growing law school, and with that there are a few growing pains but nothing too serious.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There may be better ways of listening to what the needs of the staff are. The building does need some facial changes.

I have been working at University of Massachusetts as a contractor (more than a year)

    Pros

Some of the best reasons to work as a resident assistant are for the financial security, meeting new people, having a "family" of people you can count on, and learning more about social justice.

    Cons

Duty on the weekends goes until 2am and you have to finish a set of rounds starting at 2am, so you really don't get to sleep until 2:30am-3am on the weekends. The job can be time consuming, but it depends on if you leave everything to the last second.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I don't have any advice for upper management. I love my boss.

I have been working at University of Massachusetts as a contractor (more than 3 years)

    Pros

It's a great place to be an adjunct because the pay is much higher per course, as compared to other universities in the region. There is great administrative and IT support. The students contribute a great deal to class discussions, as most bring long-term professional and diverse personal experience to the classroom.

    Cons

Parking on campus is a nightmare anymore. This makes it challenging to meet with students outside of class time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

This is traditionally a commuter school. Many students come from far away and the T is not convenient for them. Some have to come and go from campus during the day, for their jobs and/or their families. Time spent looking for parking and taking the shuttle is cutting into class and study time.

    Cons

Can be demanding on the student during exam times, but faculty tries to accommodate schedules.

    Pros

Great & cheap cafeteria food, guess you can say that I wouldn't mind being a receptionist after being an intern there.

    Pros

Good atmosphere and community. Pay is good and the pace of work is easy to keep up with

    Cons

Have to deal with a laid back schedule from a lot of the employees.,

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management can be hit or miss. Review upper levels more often. Perhaps performance rewards would help?

I worked at University of Massachusetts part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Resources under all departments: Academics, transportation, events, student organizations, advisors, study abroad options, job opportunities, and financial aid options. The design of the campus itself makes getting around easy too.

    Cons

Too many choices, which can become overwhelming. There's also lots of construction going on because of their 50 year plan on giving the 150 year old university a beautiful tune-up and additions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep on keeping on with that 50 year plan.
