    Pros

Freedom of speech and thought. Perfect work life balance. If focused multiple parallel venture can be achieved. Enough Paid Vacation in a year.

    Cons

Too much provocation of side attraction make hard too be on your goals. Too much expensive. Both campus and off-campus.

    Pros

Excellent benefits. Work/life balance is reasonable. Stable.

    Cons

Compensation is about $5-7K below market rate expectations. Terrible vacation accrual system. Management is geared toward consensus building.

    Advice to Management

Staff, not faculty, power the University. When you do not take care of them, the exodus will continue. No staff, no University.

I have been working at University of Miami full-time

    Pros

Beautiful campus. Great Health, 401k, and tuition benefits. UM matches 5% of your salary +5% contribution for 401k. Overall it is nice place to work if you live in Miami.

    Cons

Slightly low salary compare to others, and not many jobs and options. Sometimes, hard to find good P.I due to low job opportunity in UM especially scientific research field. Too much politics.

    Pros

UM offers some great benefits to its employees and has a very nice retirement package. Large campus allows for many opportunities for development. One of the best places to work in South Florida.

    Cons

Pay is low and noncompetitive for current employees seeking a promotion.

    Advice to Management

Provide tangible opportunities for career growth for employees and provide better salary incentives to employees with exceptional work ethics and histories. Failure to provide great employee incentives causes UM to lose the brightest to other organizations unnecessarily.
