I have been working at University of Missouri part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Work/Life balance was great. If you like to speak with different college students on a daily basis, this is a perfect job for you. Everyone in the office/team was more like family instead of colleagues.

    Cons

Only for Junior/Senior business students at Mizzou.

I have been working at University of Missouri full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Good benefits including retirement, time-off leave, and holidays. Depending on the department, it can be a low stress environment. Most people are friendly and want to do a good job.

    Cons

Raises are rare so always negotiate the highest salary possible. Employees are reviewed annually, but it is difficult to reward good employees with small raises and in many cases no raises. Unfortunately, the only way to get a raise is to have an offer and sometimes they will match to keep you if you are a good employee. Management listens to employees, but seems powerless to enact improvements which often come at a snail's pace. Long-term employees are not valued. New employees without experience are often paid nearly the same as long-term employees. Many employees are burnt out and have little to no incentive to improve or move on.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Value your employees. Trust them to make the right decision. Don't impede progress. Fight for decent raises.

I have been working at University of Missouri full-time

    Pros

Great benefits package. College atmosphere can be fun. It seems like during the summer the work slows down across campus, so that is relaxing.

    Cons

Budgets are tightening so everyone is expected to do more with less. It seems like a lot of people are unhappy and stressed, but are not willing or able to look for employment elsewhere. Bureaucracy stifles growth and new ideas.

    Negative Outlook
    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at University of Missouri part-time for more than a year

    Pros

I have loved having the opportunity to work on real world projects and problems. It has been incredibly educational and I have grown a lot as a person because of it.

    Cons

I think one of the cons is that your educational and work experience is dependent on the faculty that teach or employ you. I believe that this can either make for a great or horrible experience depending on the faculty member.
