I worked at University of Montana full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The open minded and creative nature of the people and department I worked in where great! I miss it since I left, and would love a chance to return.

    Cons

Job stability was always a problem, and changing budgets, and direction seemed to always keep you at the edge of your seat, to see if you would have a job the next semester.

I have been working at University of Montana

    Pros

It is a good learning environment where you are expected to work hard and keep up to date within your field. There are many opportunities for pursuing your academic interests. The schedule is flexible, and the people are good to work with.

    Cons

It is difficult to pursue research interests that are outside the interests of the professors working here, which I think is common. I did not receive very good instruction on how to propose and successfully receive a grant.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I think it is necessary to provide a better forum for voicing concerns about the programs of study, and to provide better avenues through which budding researchers can successfully secure grant funding and study novel research.

I worked at University of Montana part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great learning opportunities for student employees looking to get professional experience while attending college.

    Cons

As a student employee you need to work concurrent with your courses which could possibly divert your attention from your studies. The university is very helpful in scheduling around your academic schedule.
