I worked at University of North Texas (More than 3 years)

    Pros

there really aren't any pros, there was very little positive about this place, UNT continually lowers standards in order to attract more students

    Cons

expect professors to demand that you provide them with personal services, housesitting and the like, it can be really abusive and the administration just doesn't care

    Advice to Management

management needs a complete shakedown, unt has a long history of financial irregularities and misplaced priorities, its a university but the football stadium is better funded than the library

I worked at University of North Texas full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Lots of potential. Beautiful campus in a good location.

    Cons

A serious lack of quality leadership. Individuals holding the top positions have unrealistic expectations and no understanding of what they ask staff to do. Academic culture of bullying and harassment from the top. Little professionalism, no ethics. Very high turnover. Unhealthy work environment.

    Advice to Management

Be leaders. First understand what you are asking of others, then take responsibility when you mess up. Give clear achievable goals with realistic expectations and provide the necessary tools to do the job.

I have been working at University of North Texas full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Occasional Comp time hours. is the only good thing.

    Cons

they do not compensation employees with advanced degrees 2. Raises are non-existent. 3. parking and HR training is awful.

    Advice to Management

Compensate employees with advanced degree. Listen to employees who have a valid complaint, don't just say you do not have any cause and throw them back to the wolves. I was harassed by my supervisor from the first day and Office of Diversity and Equity did nothing to help me even when i told them my supervisor revealed her naked body to me.

I worked at University of North Texas as an intern (More than a year)

    Pros

I would work for UNT again in a heartbeat. Professors were always professional and I please don't hesitate to be a student or consultant for them.

    Cons

Absolutely nothing. Amazing group to work with.

    Advice to Management

KEEP the Geriatric Program. I know it was consider for discontinuation. What was Administration thinking? Duh....look at the numbers of the aging population.

    Pros

Great time off and insurance. When students are off, you get some time off. You get comp time, sick time, vacation time to play around with when the summer comes.

    Cons

Management is TERRIBLE! They can be verbally and physically harmful to anyone whom works there. It's great if you just need a paycheck but to rebuild your esteem, I strongly suggest getting a strink FAST!

I worked at University of North Texas full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I can't think of any. Seriously.... I guess it beats being jobless and homeless, but not by much. The benefits suck and unless you're one of the fat administrators the pay sucks, too.

    Cons

The fish rots from the head. And that place is ROTTEN. I worked in the College of Business and I know it was one of the worst places on campus. Incompetent management, cronyism, and a culture of shooting the messenger make it a nightmare. Productive faculty get abused, and incompetence is rewarded. Very very sad.

    Advice to Management

Fire all the management and clean house.

    Pros

Nice campus, Nice Gym, Nice Bus System

    Cons

Get treated like a second class citizen. The management is non-existent. Staff are treated horribly. Parking is out of this world bad

    Advice to Management

Listen to the people who work for you.

I worked at University of North Texas full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Generous vacation policy, pretty campus. Not much else to say, but I need to have 20 words to complete this review.

    Cons

Pay, benefits, management, parking, board of regents, VP staff, management in general really treats talented people as a threat to their security.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the students. Less than 10% of the student body bothered to vote (at all, for and against!) for your new stadium and student union. 80+% of UNT students work their way through college and do not have the free time to loiter in a union or attend weekend football games. The new empty stadium is a sad confirmation of the students lack of interest in big time football. Those MILLIONS and MILLIONS of dollars could have been spent on enhancing the education for all students at UNT. Regarding my individual employment, over several years I have witnessed the deterioration of the Division of Student Affairs. DSA is far past due for a regime change. This has become a place for mid-level bureaucrats to hide for decades on end while populating director level management with their cronies and friends. Assisting students is not the goal; creating the image of looking like they help large numbers of students is the directive. Quality student experience is a joke. The focus is to "churn and burn" as may students that you can headcount as you can. The numbers are then used to generate more student paid fees for the department budget. This is a house of cards. If enrollment slows, people will be RIF'd and payrolls will likely be slashed.

If work/life balance is important to you - than you will enjoy it there

    Cons

If you want to actually have a career - don't go there!
