Current Employee – been working at University of Texas at Austin full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Most people are laid back. Relative job security/stability. Excellent health insurance (UT is self-funded). Good paid-time-off.
Cons – Some people are annoyingly "quirky" (many people working here are only here because they aren't normal enough to hold down a job in the private sector). Most software development involves 30+ year old 4GL/databases.
Advice to Senior Management – The sooner you switch to a modern platform the sooner you can stop throwing money away trying to teach secretaries how to write computer programs.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Current Employee – been working at University of Texas at Austin
Pros – pretty flexible work hours
breakfast tacos at meetings sometimes
no paychecks have bounced
no other pros i can think of
Cons – no chance for advancement
management completely indifferent/oblivious to anything their direct reports do
Advice to Senior Management – turnover at the non-management level has been so high it's clear that management wants no advice, so i'll just say continue enjoying the status quo

Pros – Salary is excellent, comparitively. The resources are great.
Cons – Change in leadership has led to a division amongst staff, micromanaging, disregard for employees.. just a depressing workplace.
Advice to Senior Management – Value your employees first.
