I worked at University of Wyoming part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

All most everybody there is kind and nice. Good salary and benefits, very helpful staff. The university has good funding.

    Cons

    1) Some employees have problems to understand, spend lots lot time to explain and some people still cannot understand. I believe it's not about their attitude. 2) Some graduate students are under too much pressure from their advisors.

    Advice to Management

I liked the university, missed it after I left.

I worked at University of Wyoming (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great people in the IT department. I would recommend it to anyone looking at getting into IT. Most of the clients were also quite understanding and easy to work with.

    Cons

The pay isn't the best. They have wage freezes where no one gets a raise.

    Pros

Very flexible job for students who are wanting to work and make some money but also focus on school. Staff is great to work with and they are very understanding that school comes first.

    Cons

Monotonous work, a lot of data entry that requires you to stare at computers for a long period of time.

    Advice to Management

Create more content for students to work on.

I have been working at University of Wyoming full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Coming to Wyoming is great because you will be able to get lots of individualized attention (the classes are very small). Also, the professors are very accessible and the support from other campus services (financial aid, office of the register, exc..) are always prompt and able to resolve most issues in one trip.

    Cons

The city is very small: there is not very much to do here and if you want more than Walmart you will have to travel two hours or so. Additionally due to the small size of the school there are a lot of just awful teachers for the low level entry classes, making learning difficult.

    Advice to Management

Continue with improvements to campus, keep the student activities (especially the Friday night drinking alternative ones - as almost everyone drinks), and continue to keep the low tuition.

  9. Great place to school

    Pros

Lots of opportunity available for graduating students and availability of interests to follow.

    Cons

You have to initiate what you want to do.

  10. Great institution, very well managed and supported by the state.

I have been working at University of Wyoming full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Excellent colleagues, forward thinking environment. Facilities are first class as is the quality of the workforce. The students are some of the best I've been exposed to. Decent benefits, and excellent flexibility in work schedules.

    Cons

Salaries have been flat for nearly 5 years due to economic downturn. Although the legislature has finally passed a budget that includes some increases, the overall impact of the "no raises" has been that we've begun to loose talented people, especially researchers and support staff. Salaries do not compare well to other regional institutions.

    Advice to Management

Continue to work hard at bringing salaries nearer to par with similar institutions.

  11. Higher Education
