    Pros

Simple tasks to be performed, and the people are easy going.

    Cons

Not any significant ones. Seems like a great company to work for.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at VCA Antech full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

job security working for a large corp, pet benefits, decent health insurance, multiple job opportunities in other locations,

    Cons

management that doesn't listen, and is non-complaint with its own rules and regulations, no raises or performance reviews for years at a time, will work employees until they drop with no care about work/life balance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have a lot to say, but they wouldn't listen...

It was a great team, although sometimes we were stretched thin.

I worked at VCA Antech part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Very good about paying overtime, decent time-off policies, schedules were, for the most part, accommodating to your personal life.

    Cons

    Felt short staffed at times.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    More staff!

Great for DVMs. Support staff is underpaid.

I worked at VCA Antech full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Fair employee discount. Good training. Ability to advance.

    Cons

The veterinary departments rely on the not certified vet assistants to do a lot of grunt work, but they are also expected to do many tasks that only certified techs should be doing. That's a lot of free/ discounted labor for VCA .

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay your vet receptionist, vet techs assist, and kennel techs more. The turnover rate is crazy.

I have been working at VCA Antech

    Pros

A good place to work if you're a type-A personality with good performance to back up your work. Company definitely rewards those who can demonstrate value.

    Cons

Work-life balance can be challenging at times, but the rewards are there for those looking for them. This is definitely not a place where you can hide. Benefits are below average for a company of this size.

I have been working at VCA Antech full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Hospitals have access to high quality equipment
Company invests in employees through continuing education
    Company matching funds for 401k

    Cons

Company rolls out too many 'programs' at one time making it very difficult to execute each one well. Each support office department does not seem to know what another is doing so there is often a funnel effect on the hospitals.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Some peopler are "more equal than others" - George Orwell. Sadly, this is part of the culture at VCA.
