    Pros

    Cons

If in a temp position with the company they treat you like a second class citizen and make sure to remind you of temp status

I worked at VWR International full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The non-executive level people. Everyone from the call center, warehouse, supply chain, sales reps, regional managers were really great people who cared a lot for each other. The sales rep position is what you make of it. The guaranteed salary was solid and the commission potential high if you're willing to put in the work and are good at managing your time working from home.

    Cons

I was not interested in becoming a manager at the time, so this is not a spiteful comment but something was odd about the people they promoted to management and VP roles. They promoted people who looked good and were seemingly the best BSers. A lot of people got screwed and it was sad to watch. Had they promoted the right people, they may not be in their current distressed state.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promote the right people. Schmoozers, BSers, and the "good ole boys" should be replaced with genuine leaders who care about the business and the people, not just themselves. I believe that Manuel Brocke-Benz truly believes in the business and wants the best for everyone and I hope that he can turn things around.

I have been working at VWR International full-time

    Pros

The people. Most of them. Solid, hard working. Driving for success. These individuals have high integrity. Corporate culture can be good depending on the team you are on.

    Cons

If your not in the inner circles, you'll have a tough time getting traction to move up. Questionable decision making. Communication could be a lot better. Consolidation of leadership is a real head scratcher.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have seen a lot over the years. Strong leaders, strong positive culture. Honest dialogue and feedback. A great company. It will be interesting to see what the next couple of years hold to see if "great" is still a term that applies. Oh, and just a suggestion but leadership through fear and intimidation and passive aggression is not the way to stay great.

I worked at VWR International full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

This could be a great place to work , depending on your mgr.

    Cons

Sr mgmt. appears to want everyone to be open and honest but middle mgmt. feels threatened by suggestions and just thoughts and ideas on other ways to improve

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If middle mgmt. is not going to be open to respectful dialog from direct reports on ideas for improvement then Sr mgmt. should not promote this ideology. Mgrs need to promote growth and development -not undermine someone with ambition and drive. Stop micro- managing and let your team help you.

I worked at VWR International full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

One of the main reasons I stayed was the people...was fortunate to have worked for wonderful bosses and amazing people who are always willing to help each other to get the job done and issues resolved.

    Cons

You can tell that employees are swamped, overworked and you can't really blame them for not willing to help and they lost their enthusiasm about their work. And you will never know if and when you will get the pink slip.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Any company cannot survive without the good lay people.
