  1.

Very confused organization. Really bad at prioritizing what's important. Policies change like no tomorrow. Bad management in some branches and departments.

I have been working at Vancity full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Good pay and benefits, annual profit sharing, some unionized departments offer fixed pay increases.

    Cons

Performance reviews are based on sales numbers which does not align with vancity's core values. Over the years Vancity has become so much sales focused that more staff has gone on stress leave in last 4-5 years than the past many decades. Some managers became managers only because the either had good sales numbers or they had good connections, they have no people management skills at all. Career progression is really slow.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus more on your employees and stick to vancity's values instead of competing with big banks.

I have been working at Vancity full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Good culture (for the most part). Year-end bonus/profit sharing incentives. Great health benefit plan. Lots of vacation with lots of sick days, sick days for your kids, sick days for your parents, grief days for death in a family.

    Cons

Some managers are extremely clueless and try very hard to appear intelligent by using big corporate words, blaming other departments or holding endless meetings that doesn't amount to anything.

Depending on the department it is also very clique-y. If you're not in their clique it's very hard to get into it without brown nosing your way through, or pretend you're interested in conversations you have zero interest in having that's completely non job related.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your employees; own up to your mistakes; don't pretend you understand something when you don't. Not everyone knows everything, it's OK to not know. To give BS answers is worse than no answer at all.
