    Once, a mobile marketing leader

    Director (Former Employee)
    San Francisco, CA

ProsTake charge of the full spectrum of mobile marketing tools. They have it all, but it may be too much - a lack of focus has gotten Velti to the point where they don't have a leadership position in any specific area. To get back on top, they have to land new customers and reacquire old ones.

ConsChapter 11, Chapter 5. They were listed in NASDQ, now they are not listed at all.

Prosamazing coworkers who are dedicated to working as a team to achieve goals, everyone is friendly and hard-working

Consbad management leading to poor overall company performance leading to a sad atmosphere around the office, it used to be MUCH better to work here

    Advice to Senior ManagementInvest smarter!

Exciting ride, typical tech company growing pains

    Director (Current Employee)
    New York, NY

ProsFast growing company in exciting space
Customers acknowledge Velti as the best in the business--respect and trust
Lots of smart people who seem to genuinely like each other and try very hard
Despite some of the surprisingly negative comments on glassdoor, our office at least is pretty free of politics
    Good opportunities for advancement
Very low turnover rate from acquisitions. Two in past year and it seems almost everybody has stayed
Unlike other small mobile companies, this one seems on track to outgrow any short term issues and become a big player

ConsTypical pressures of company on fast growth trajectory: never enough time, people, etc.
Management systems are still being developed. People who struggle with unbounded problems or need frequent reassurance have a real problem here and should probably apply at HP or Microsoft instead
Weak HR department means employees feel they don't have a voice with senior management and execs have poor visibility into what's happening in the trenches

Advice to Senior ManagementYou will always have critics and some people are never happy. Probably 85% of the company's employees are excited and engaged. Don't get hung up on the few who are pissed off. Do what you know is right for the good of the comapny while treating people fairly and everything will be fine.

Probably the most satisfying professional experience of my career.

    Vice President (Current Employee)
    San Francisco, CA

ProsWorking for an industry leader on a huge growth curve makes this the most challenging yet most satisfying position I've ever held. Company has continued to reinvent itself consistently over the past 10 years, wish I had joined earlier. Compensation is quite good. Diversity in offices across the globe provides daily challenges, inspiration and an opportunity to question one's preconceptions.

ConsCompany could plan better. Leadership needs to communicate more info and more often. Administrative and procedural matters need to be solved faster and more efficiently. Rate of growth makes things a bit difficult -- victims of our success -- but it's a scale or die business, this needs to be anticipated and compensated for.

Advice to Senior ManagementCommunication, communication, communication.

    ProsCompetitive salary
    Excellent working conditions
    Overall good co-workers

    ConsSome departments have broad directions
Marketing and sales have no specific guidelines on what to market/sell

One of the best companies in Greece to work for

    Software Engineer (Current Employee)
    Athens (Greece)

    ProsEvolving and rising company
Provides ample opportunity to enhance one's knowledge
Knowledgeable people who more often than not coincide with your "brainwaves"
    Clean and organized working environment
A lot of tools and office related benefits that facilitate both the work and the feeling of organization within the company.

ConsWorkload can sometimes be heavy resulting into logging extra hours, even late at night or during weekends if the project deadline is too strict.

Challenging with quick growth. There is place to excel if you fit in the culture.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Athens (Greece)

Pros- Always looking to strive for the best
    - Very promising vision
    - Rewards excellence
    - Good atmosphere
    - Quick reacting and open to opinions

Cons- Depending on the department, you may be side tracked with politics (can be avoided)
    - Top down and horizontal communication needs work
    - Review process not formal enough

Advice to Senior Management- Improve top down communication and keep it consistent
    - Strengthen transparency on the review cycles by improving it, making it more frequent (every 4-6 months) and getting external professional consulting on setting it up.
    - Leave space for employee growth by increasing the head count by 10-20% in departments which are too busy

Work in the most exciting market, in a truly international company

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsMobile Marketing and Advertising is one of the most exciting industries
The company is working for Fortune 500 brands, carriers and agencies.
Very strong emphasis on technology, innovation, performance driven marketing
Fearless attitude of management, grew from $5m in 2006 from 2 countries, to $115m last year globally
"Greek" comments are exaggerated, even if they are supposed to be a "bad" thing. Out of 12 senior mgmt team, 4 are Greek, and all 4 have an HBS or an MIT degree.

ConsRelentless pressure to deliver. Enormous growth of company the last 5 years, together with IPO success and 4 acquisitions is really creating an environment of huge challenges to employees and continuous change. Key management structure has also migrated twice from SE Europe to London in 2007 to San Francisco in 2010.
Public more European company than typical Silicon Valley company, is more conservative and doesnt do a good job on establishing a great company culture.

Advice to Senior ManagementSpend more time leading internally and keep everyone on the same vision.
Provide transparency and clarity on compensation packages worldwide
As far as investors go, CEO is a star, he has built a world leader without raising a single dollar from VCs

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend
