I have been working at Vera Bradley part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

It's a friendly atmosphere to work in with a great discount. Customers are usually very friendly and it is easy to create good relationships with everyone you come in contact with. Team selling and no commission means no competition with your coworkers.

    Cons

There is little to no room for growth in the company. When a new management position opens up they almost always hire from outside the company. Attempts at saving money for the company have really affected how the company treats the employees (hours; also recently every store had to "let go of"/demote an assistant manager because the company didn't want to pay their benefits anymore.) No holiday pay.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Go back to being a "Girl's Best Friend" to your employees. When changes are made (ie the return policy) make sure everyone is on the same page. Customer service has to back up what policies are being used in the store, instead of rolling over for a customer and making the associates look like "the bad guys"

I have been working at Vera Bradley full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Family-like atmosphere, excellent work/life balance, low stress. Amazing employee discount. Higher end retailer with higher end clientele. Relationship building is very important and a huge focus for the company.

    Cons

Not much opportunity for advancement outside of relocating. Company is still learning to streamline processes so some functions can be a bit archaic and frustrating for managers with extensive retail experience. Competing with non-company-owned stores selling Vera Bradley can be a drag. Those stores will have items on sale that the retail store won't so oftentimes sales can be lost due to discounts offered elsewhere.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider hiring support personnel in the home office to help streamline special order processes, reporting, etc.

    Pros

Very friendly environment with a lot of really good people. Decent benefits and great core company values. A lot of fun activities for the holidays and the ladies will love the deep discounts on company product purchases.

    Cons

A bit limited in being able to offer training and things of that nature and not a lot of room for advancement.

I worked at Vera Bradley part-time for less than a year

    Pros

The company treats their employees well.
    Oppurtinities to give to customers.
Great way to work on people skills.

    Cons

The current employees do NOT treat the seasonal employees with respect. Seasonal employees are treated as if they're worthless. Girls are very cliquey here and can be very rude at times. Some of the managers picked favorites.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Talk to your seasonal employees about how their experience was working for the company. I was waiting for a manager to approach me and ask if I had anything to say but just got a simple "goodbye"

I have been working at Vera Bradley

    Pros

Great people to work with, corporate visitors were friendly, discount is amazing, and they do contests to promote working harder for the store sales.

    Cons

Managers are not all on the same page. When there are two or more managers working they will ask for different things and it can get frustrating.

    Pros

Everyone is willing to help each other. There is concern and understanding for employees and other obligations that they may have.

    Cons

There are no major cons. They instill a good customer service environment. Sometimes customers can be a little difficult but that is expected in this industry.
