Pros – Verizon has competitive pay, industry leading benefits, amazing opportunities for growth and career development. The employees are all extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Management is interested in the success of their teams.
Cons – The company is used to being the best and constantly strives for more. Sometimes, this creates pressure for the employees. Retail employees sometimes complain about challenging quotas.
Advice to Senior Management – Be in touch with your frontline workers, especially those in the stores. Think Undercover Boss...do you really know what it's like to be in their shoes?

Current Employee – been working at Verizon full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Flexible work hours, Great compensation, stability and never have to tell what your company does :) Awesome place to work. Over all good people to work with. If you are positive person, you will always look forward to coming to work.
Cons – Verizon is being a very large organization has all the cons that naturally exist in humongous organizations. That doesn't mean its a bad place to work, just you have to face different kind of challenges. Growth opportunities are limited and you have to face very tough competition if you plan grow above Manager position. Director position is greatly scrutinized and you have to be either extremely lucky (get aligned by chance to vacating position) or be able to fly without wings to get a new one created for you.
Advice to Senior Management – Offshore org structure needs to be changed. It's unnatural and will never work. Offshore resources need to report to accountable onsite managers. Current org structure has created parallel, competing and counter productive organizations.

Current Employee – been working at Verizon full-time for more than 8 years
Pros – Multiple career path opportunities, investment in training/education/skill development, great health benefits, forward thinking company, diverse employment practices, long term stability and competitive pay structure
Cons – very large company, not all employees are held accountable for their contributions (or lack of), easy to "hide" and just collect a check, Telecom division is being held hostage by union contracts which gives direct competitors the upper hand who do not employ union workers
Advice to Senior Management – create a work environment on eac team where employee development and accountability is at the core. Inspect what you expect and no matter how large/small your team, enforce a work/life balance motto so that employees aren't forced to try to take advantage of our liberal employee benefits
