Ever changing "plan" on the Enterprise side

Senior Staff Consultant (Former Employee)
New York, NY

I worked at Verizon full-time for more than 8 years

ProsStrong wireless business, great value for shareholders. Looks good on a resume for those who value old school telco background. Apple self paced training opportunity.

ConsSame unproductive leaders get shuffled every 9 months under the guise of a re-org...why not bring in a proven sales leader to turn the business around?

Advice to Senior ManagementOutside hires with proven track records of success for leadership positions in Enterprise.

Needs improvement

Technician (Former Employee)
Tulsa, OK

I worked at Verizon full-time for more than 5 years

ProsGreat benefits and health insurance were a con. Great discounts on products. Good onsite cafes and credit union with very beautifull arboritum.

ConsPoor management practices coupled with aging legacy equipment made perpetial errors in judgement. Excessive overtime was normal to remedy issues.

Advice to Senior ManagementReplace equipment and mid-level management.

Enterprise solutions Team- Terrible management and fake promises

Account Manager (Former Employee)
Highlands Ranch, CO

I worked at Verizon full-time for less than a year

ProsOnly pro I can think of is benefits, but all will be taken from your last paycheck. Verizon promises rewards for hard work, but they really dont care about the employees or theis rewards. they will promise all they can and when you are closing and getting above quota, they will 'lose your accounts' or pay you the following month so that you cant reach your set quota. Its all a scam from management. Worst job EVER!!! glad to be out of there.

ConsManagement is inept and very political. They dont care is you have a better education or more experience, all they care for is how much ass you can kiss!! These guys are really something BAD.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet all new manager! you guys suck

Working for this company was the worst experience in my life!!! It ruined my ability to work in corporate America.

Sales Associate (Former Employee)
Virginia Beach, VA

I worked at Verizon full-time for more than 8 years

ProsGreat pay and benefits for this area. Convenient location at the time, very nice employees, treated like family.

ConsHigh stress environment associates must make sales quota. Used to be a good company to work for that cared about their employees but as become a company that is all about the numbers. Employees have become a body that can be replaced and are treated so.

Advice to Senior ManagementVerizon should hold management to same rules as consultants. Management should be honest, trustworthy and have integrity. Management should listen to employees and help employees when having a problem instead of increasing pressure.

Worst Job I've Ever Had

Sales Representative (Former Employee)
Highlands Ranch, CO

I worked at Verizon full-time for more than a year

ProsThe Pay is the only positive

ConsNo Structure
Incompetent Senior Management
Company Culture
High Stress
Not in control of your pay

Advice to Senior ManagementCompany didn't care about you as a person. If you had one bad month, your job was threatened. The company is behind the times and backwards in terms of technology. I relied on selling pots lines and DSL to companies to hit my number. Bigger solutions such as cloud were MUCH too expensive for small/medium businesses to afford. Company raised our quota four times in 12 months. By the time I left, the quota was more than double what it was when I started. After you make a sale, your order goes through 3-4 different departments/teams before you see commission. You place the order, it goes to order management, they then hire the tech to install the solution, then it goes to the team that determines how much commission you receive. If one of those teams makes a mistake, you lose your sale. Many times, I did my job but the technician screwed up the installation and I lost my commission. Hard work was for nothing! This job is great if you're looking to make a lot of money. It's the worst job in the world if you value work/life balance, a job you like, and opportunity for growth. You can only move up in the company if you're in "good standing". To be in good standing, you have to hit your quota. Out of a team of 40, roughly 5-8 people achieved quota each month. STAY AWAY.

Long time employees will be laid off. You are nothing but your employee number.

Technical Architect (Former Employee)
Temple Terrace, FL

I worked at Verizon full-time for more than 10 years

ProsBenefits are good.
Chances to work on new technologies
Discounts on Verizon products and services

ConsLayoffs every 6 months on wireline side. You can set your watch to it! Management always says it is a last resort but it always happens.
work-life balance is awful
You are nothing but a number on the corporate budget spreadsheet. When your number comes up, you are walked out.
Telecommuting cut back significantly

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't tell us we had a good year and then lay off 10% of your IT department!. Start cutting from the top, not the dedicated front line workers who made you successful. We are not just a number. We are real people with families and lives.
