I have been working at Verizon full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Awesome group of coworkers, interesting projects, everyone is telecommute and the hours flexible. Top of market salary. Lots of hardware to play with. Mutual trust and respect all over the place. Been here three years now and still liking it a lot.

    Cons

It's a huge company, around 200k worldwide, so there's big-corp idiocy in places like IT and HR. If you get the wrong group, it's a bad place to work. And of course, epic politics; there's real money in play.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reopen the FIOS project: the country needs it and the profit is there to be had. Work harder to collaborate with other groups in the company.

I have been working at Verizon full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Great place to work and the compensation and benefits are better than most companies the same size. I would recommend it to my friends.

    Cons

The challenges are about the same as working at another company the same size. You only get out of it what you put in it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus more on growing jobs for Americans and less focus on growing outplacement companies in other countries that replace American jobs.

    Pros

I love the team work and sales aspect of the company. Good benefits.

    Cons

Nothing really that stands out!!! They have so any positives, maybe very few part time hires instead more full time positions.

I worked at Verizon as a contractor (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Great telecommute opportunities with a global presence. Mobility is available for those who work for it. Energetic focus on new technologies with a quick to market focus on products. Continuous change in corporate culture.

    Cons

Constant changes in upper-level management structure. It's commonplace for new organizational charts to be distributed creating difficult development of long-term, productive goals. A great amount of time is wasted on changes of philosophies and practices of successful teams

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop the annual house-cleaning of upper-management. Corporate virtually comes to a halt for the last 2-months of the year while management goes into lame-duck mode.
