    Pros

Flexible work hours. Able to work from home. Good people to interact with.

    Cons

Outsourcing alot of their resources at least from my department. in IT. Needs to listen to senior developer/tester that have alot of knowledge Lack technical people with great knowledge of the program.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please listen to your senior development and testers. Also be more involved in the work that they do. Try to be more interactive with them.

    I worked at Verizon Wireless

    Pros

Verizon Wireless is a Fun company to work for. Everyone is down to earth and easy to talk to. The company really creates a welcoming on-boarding experience that i have never experienced before. Training is the BEST part. The store experience is going to reflect HIGHLY on your management team. The Benefits are AMAZING. Company phone, huge discount, full medical, dental, vision on the FIRST day. High energy store with music blaring all day i mean how can you not love that? If you are a SALES REP this job is pretty decent. Experience Specialist....Not so much.

    Cons

The cons come in when you have a management team that is more SELF motivated than TEAM motivated. Which unfortunately was my experience. If you aren't producing BIG numbers you and your opinions are irrelevant. Experience Specialist were not valued in my store and it made it to be a very discouraging experience. Being in corporate world you have to be careful who you speak to and speak about so it became hard to find my way in the company. From day one I was and to this day I am still unclear exactly what my role was in this Store. Your are sent to SALES training and yet you never get an opportunity to sell. The things you do sell are handed off to a sales rep and you receive NO credit nor acknowledgement. I was constantly told to perfect the position I was in yet not one manager could tell me exactly what that meant. I primarily stood at the door as a greeter all day and as a college graduate I do not care how much the job pays i didn't graduate CUM LAUDE to be a DOOR GREETER. One minute late and 25 minutes late is still the same late. There are reps who constantly cost the company money daily with dumb mistakes and yet they are "overlooked" when rules are broken. No matter how hard you work how often you stay late and help as an experience specialist in THIS STORE once you mess up YOUR CAREER IS DONE! No opportunity to be human, no room for growth. The management team was a complete let down and thus created a horrible experience in my eyes. No matter how many time i came to them to express my desire to be better my desire to move up it went in one ear and out the other. Verizon is still THE BEST WIRELESS COMPANY OFFERING EXACTLY WHAT THEY ADVERTISE,GREAT SERVICE. I Love The Company! However the management team needs a SERIOUS reality check! You cant succeed as a TEAM if you are only looking out for YOURSELF.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The one on ones that you are SUPPOSED to have every week. THAT IS FOR A REASON. You should actually DO THEM. When an employee is trying to better themselves and is seeking leadership and guidance from you...THAT IS YOUR JOB. You cannot effectively manage your store sitting at a desk in the back all day. General Managers should actually BE in the store every now and then. Relationships with your subordinates are probably a bad idea. Try to be more discreet. This company is far too great to have people like you in leadership.

Company believes in trying to help their employees.

    Cons

Not human when it comes to attendance

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

allow realistic goals and for the teams to be more one instead of being the different as if we are working on the same goals.. then it helps

I worked at Verizon Wireless full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Sales/ Customer service is slightly easier with a better marketed wireless service

    Cons

Big red is a system for politicians. Those are the folks who do well in this company.
    Bureaucrats.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay attention to all the political grey areas within the company and maybe it will expose how certain
reps/managers in the company produce less yet stay longer, and certain hard working employees
have to fight for there job on every front simply over political grey areas.

I have been working at Verizon Wireless

    Pros

Successful company, decent pay and okay benefits

    Cons

Bidding seniority now affected by stats and sales; not fair, not everyone is a sales person

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Verizon has a Telesales department and Sales reps at the brick and mortar stores for a reason; stop pushing your customer service reps to sell. Stop making state count toward seniority.

I worked at Verizon Wireless (more than 10 years)

    Pros

For the first ten years we were working well together. Then the Wireline side started trying to take over and eventually succeeded.

    Cons

Getting too big and clumsy. Expect it to be as fractional and dysfunctional as ATT in a few years. "It's the network" will change from a boast to an excuse.

I have been working at Verizon Wireless full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Good salary. Great industry. Great market. Interesting technology. They offer opportunity but then take it away without thought. Nothing more that is good about working here. Most people with half a brain won't fit in with the people who do fit in with the company culture which is negative.

    Cons

Rigid schedule. Bad, bad, bad management. Boring work environment except while management is yelling. Very old school.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Upper management does not pay attention to what middle management is doing. These people are not skilled and have got to their positions just due to tenure. Focus changes rapidly. Lots of money lost on lack of planning. Just an awful experience for employees. It is truly management by intimidation and hostility.

    Pros

Pay was decent, decent benefits, some free lunches

    Cons

Quota became harder and harder to hit each month, so many changes coming from management that had no idea how to perform our jobs, verizon started outsources employees to save money...resulted in massive lay offs

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Care more about the long term, loyal employees...don't treat them like "just a number "

    Pros

    Decent pay and great benefits

    Cons

Depends on your region but in the Midwest from upper management on down they only care about numbers which results in a terrible work life balance and constant threatening from upper management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Just motivate and lead without pressuring your employees. It's verizon wireless they will always be a juggernaut in this industry. They need to respect the help they have.
