    Pros

Great benefits, cool coworkers, great social atmosphere, flexible vacation schedules.

    Cons

Commision "game" rigged to lose. Retail schedules. Trainings and classes scheduled during off days, not told it would be compensated. Stressed management. High turnover rates. Management is protected by HR even when there are obvious wrong doings.

    Advice to Management

Learn to control your stress and lead by example.

    Pros

The health benefits were outstanding. I needed allergy shots and it was all covered. They pay is nice if you can exceed your quota. I new some reps were bringing in 50k-70k annually. It's not always easy to hit those numbers though.

    Cons

Hours add up, not much work life balance. If it's packed, I could get off at 9 or 10 at night. I rarely if ever got a weekend off. I ended up spending a lot of time with escalations because dishonest reps were slamming customers with things they didn't need in order to boost numbers. LOUD SPEAKERS blasting sometimes from 3 different sources while I tried to discuss plans with customers. If I turned any of the speakers down, managers would write me up. The speakers were the last straw, I just couldn't work there any more.

The weekly meetings were mostly pointless and time consuming. Every Friday, we had a meeting at 7am whether you worked that day or not. No matter what the shift. If you closed that day, you had about 3 hours to kill before you came back to work. At one point we had two meetings, Mon and Fri every week. If you were under-performing certain metrics you have to come in on Mon for an hour.

    Advice to Management

Relax on the accessory revenue requirements. Some reps were so worried about tanking their accessory numbers that they wouldn't sell new lines. And it's not even consistent across districts.

    Pros

Good benefits. Might be a "con" as they make it hard to leave.

    Cons

Sales people are forced by management to mislead customers into buying accessories, tablets and mobile hot spots. The managers are promoted based on their sales numbers instead of whether or not they are ethical or any good at managing and developing their staff. Often they are the sales reps that have high sales because they lack integrity and know how not to get caught for being unethical. The managers also believe that fear is good for motivating the team and constantly have associates fearing being reprimanded or fired. Doing what's right is not a virtue at verizon wireless. With all the metrics, quotas and fear of not meeting them, doing the right thing is the last thing on anyone's mind. Everyone, including managers, are so worried about getting in trouble, they will not stand with integrity, admit even an honest mistake, or hesitate throwing another under the bus. Besides that even if a rep did want to do the right thing, they are not empowered to make things right and the customer is the one who ends up bearing the brunt and paying for Verizon's mistakes. You really have to be a sociopath to be successful at Verizon wireless.

    Advice to Management

Realize that because a rep has good sales numbers does not mean that they'd be a good manager. Contrarily, they are usually just the ones who are good at not getting caught. Promote those who are ethical and good team players rather than those who cheat their company, customer and coworkers. Train managers how to coach effectively and with encouragement rather than intimidation. Consider a third party survey for associate feed back about their managers to find out what's really going on. Lastly, empower associates to be able to make things right for customer.

Sexist, unqualified managers. Unethical actions encouraged and ignored. Shady sales practices rewarded with promotions. No work life balance, required meetings even on scheduled off days.

    Advice to Management

Promote managers who embody the credo and are a ethical example, Not shady street swindlers who scam customers and give the company a bad name.

    Pros

When I first started a few years ago there it seems fairly promising, lots of reps had been there for several years. The pay is decent, most of the staff is friendly and outgoing, constant change

    Cons

no work life balance, everything is about numbers, lots of shady sales, disconnect between upper management and staff, getting time off can be a joke, lots of turnover very few people there for more than a year or two. No sale is ever good (unless home phone), high quotas with less pay per device.

    Advice to Management

Look at why the turnover rate has increased so much over the last few years
