    Pros

A very good working environment with a high level of professionalism. Also a very friendly environment. A very very strong commitment to high standards. Due to the large volume of data processd, extensive testing is done prior to moving things to production.

    Cons

Like many other companies, they are working almost exclusively with off-shore vendors. Limited to no possibilities of local professionals gaining employment.

    Advice to Management

    Look at current experienced professionals.

    Pros

I've been working at VZW for over a year as IT staff member. Technology I work with is great, I love being able to telecommute, pay is great and so are benefits (medical, dental vision, 401K), if you do good they give you great bonus incentive also. Also there's a lot of room for advancing, and if you excel you advance quiet fast.

    Cons

No work/life balance!!! I have to give up weekend after weekend with no end in site. My work days are minimum 12 hours, sometimes as much as 16 hours. On slow days it's usually. Management does not seem interesting in solving work/life balance problem anytime soon. Also things are disorganized, and never assumed others will do their job. You have to be careful to always watch your behind in such chaotic environment.

    Advice to Management

Do something about work/life balance now. We do great, and next time you want us to do greater. You're never happy.

    Pros

Stable business, competent compensation, good benefits, flexible working schedule, high ethics, tuition reimbursement,

    Cons

Verizon Wireless started outsourcing the IT jobs to India instead of searching for US workers and/or train their own employees to be more efficient.. Management could be more organized and distribute all the IT work among their employees and current consultants.

    Pros

Benefits Package, Diversity and Personal Growth would be the main pros of working there. You can also get a lot of experience of how a customer centric company works.

    Cons

Environment can get a little stressful. Better salaries available at other companies. IT was not as friendly as I could have thought.

    Advice to Management

Be a little more flexible with employees. Better salary options wouldn't hurt either. Offer more benefit programs. Have a more robust mentor program.
