I have been working at Vertex Pharmaceuticals full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

It is a great place to work with great pay and benefits. Vertex Boston is located on the water fount of South Boston and has great views a great selection of local places to eat and visit. The buildings were just opened at the beginning of 2014 so we are currently in brand new start of the art lab space.

    Cons

there are not many. One would be the commute. Driving into Boston during rush hour on 93 is the pits!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

My management understands me and try as hard as it can to communicate relevant information to us reguarly. I feel well informed about the workings and financial status of the company.

I have been working at Vertex Pharmaceuticals full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Depth of pipeline in development; commitment to developing only drugs that are life-changing for patients; location; company commitment to remain innovative within the confines of GXP, despite growth or corporate size.

    Cons

We work long, hard hours, but what biophama company doesn't? The company does actively promote that employees maintain a work-life balance. A more formal WFH policy would be great to have most due to such at our competitors.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep doing what you are doing.

I have been working at Vertex Pharmaceuticals full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great and caring manager, smart, collaborative and respectful colleagues. Team work is emphasized. Very fast paced, challenging work that keeps you busy, which means lots of opportunities to learn. Science and innovation are focused by upper management, first in industry in many aspects. Great benefits and good compensation. Hope the company can enrich the pipeline and thrive for long term.

    Cons

Sometimes a little too many meetings for the sake of meetings.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Not much. Only hope the company can strategize to get product to launch faster.
