    all work no pay

Lead Material Handler (Current Employee) San Antonio, TX

Prosthe company produces a quality product. Plenty of room for promotions through hard work and ethics. Management is understanding for the most part.

Conspay is low for all positions below management. process and structure need a lot of improvement. shifts are not managed well.

Advice to Senior ManagementDo more than just try to make it through the day.

Bled the employees out over the course of 5+ years.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Chalfont, PA

Pros-Plenty of overtime available in my facility.
-Lots of positions available within the company.
    -Relatively easy to get promoted.

    Cons-Terrible management/upper management.
-Froze all raises for 5+ years after a 6% pay cut leaving us years behind.
    -No sick days
-If you haven't worked there for 20+ years, don't expect to make more than $17-$18/hour if you are an hourly employee

Advice to Senior ManagementGet out on the floor and learn about what is really going on.

The Exton plant was a fantastic place to work

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Exton, PA

ProsThe Exton, Pa plant was a fantastic place to work, we worked like a team/family and had many long-term employees

ConsOur Corporate office ended up closing the plant due to losing our biggest customer, which, in our negotiations with this customer, our "corporate negotiators" really left a bad taste in the mouths of our long-term customer. Being owned by investors it seemed it was only a matter of time before we were sold or closed.

Don't Quit Your Job to Come Work Here

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Sacramento, CA

ProsIt's a job. It pays some of the bills. I enjoy working with the people in my department. Benefits are mediocre for a large company.

ConsLet's see, I've been here for over 5 years and have nothing to show for it. My pay is embarassing considering I have a degree. No raises in 4 years (after a paycut during the first year) and they advertise a 401k plan, but there is no company match and it will never come back according to a recent company-wide meeting. Don't be duped into thinking that Vertis has all the typical perks that other companies have! Senior management said raises are back, but I have yet to hear anyone get anything. We're losing accounts left and right because you have incompetent people handling the accounts, passing bad information all the way down to the operators. Employee morale is at an all time low. Every month, a member of senior management is gone "to pursue other endeavors", which means quit voluntarily or I'll fire you. It's a revolving door.

Advice to Senior ManagementLet's see what this new round of senior leaders will do to take Vertis back to black. There's a lot of waste going on, they just need to acknowledge it.

Management changed so frequently, not in touch with employees history and contributions to the company. Doesn't matter.

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Charlotte, NC

ProsPay was above average. Benefits were good.

    ConsDeclining industry. Top heavy management.

Advice to Senior ManagementGive more empowerment to employees to do their jobs and allow more opportunity to present feedback. Allow more training opportunities for employees.

Not out of the woods - a "do or die" Q3 and Q4.

    Manager (Current Employee) Chalfont, PA

ProsThey have great products and good pricing. The IT infrastructure is outdated but the processes can support the business.

ConsVertis can't seem to shed the burden of all the debt. Confidence is running scared as another series of job cuts are hitting sporadically. No raises in 3 years is crippling.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe revolving door is numbing. No one is accountable long enough to get on solid footing. How do you attract any talent without stability and a reward system.

My experience with Vertis is/has been overall dissatisfied. If the economy and job market was better, I would be gone.

Customer Service Representative (Current Employee) Exton, PA

ProsInternal flexibility for at home issues (sick children, home issues, etc)
    Friendly co-workers

ConsInternal communication issues between departments at the management level
Lower level management spends more time in meetings than managing production
    Poor coordination at Management level
No pay raises for over 2 years
    Reduction in hours/pay

Advice to Senior ManagementUpper management needs to overhaul current management. There are so many opportunities to improve on work-flow, client satisfaction and internal/external relationships that the focus should be capitalizing on them...instead we overload people with work. The morale is horrible..

Debt and poor management has destroyed a once prosperous company.

    Manager (Former Employee) Baltimore, MD

ProsSome really good people trying to do an honest days work.

ConsEveryone is trying to find a way out, unfortunately it may be too late to save this sinking ship.

Advice to Senior ManagementFigure some way to catch up to the competition, you were left behind when your debt was way too high. Listen to the people you have working for you.

    Not the place to be

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsFlexible work schedule, relaxed dress code, no micro management at remote locations, ability to do your own thing, decent pay

ConsBad industry, paycuts, lost benefits, forced furoughs, dying business, no training, no room to advance or grow, old and outdated equipment

Advice to Senior ManagementReward your employees with praise and promotion opportunities, invest in newer equipment and training, try to find another way to get things done because printing presses are dying. Go to internet based advertising and marketing

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
