Product Manager (Current Employee)
Phoenix, AZ

I have been working at Victoria's Secret Stores full-time for less than a year

Prosdiscounts and free stuff almost every month

Conseven if you were agreed on a time you have to leave they make you stay without asking. Over work you with no break you can work 10 hours without a break. have to stay sometimes till 2am cleaning and then be back at 6am to do shipment or floorset.

Advice to Senior ManagementBe considerate when having someone close and then making them return at 6am

Love/hate Relationship

Sale Associate (Former Employee)
Denver, CO

I worked at Victoria's Secret Stores part-time for more than a year

ProsWhen a new bra came out the company would often let you get particular colors of it for $15. You got to preview all sales items before they were released meaning that you could get the good stuff. There was one manager I had who I absolutely adored. I used to tell my friends that I never saw myself quitting the company.

ConsWhen trying to get promoted it is an extensive process (this did not sound typical of the company but for my store it was quite the chore). I was promised a promotion than a new manager took over and promoted someone else. If there is going to be a store visit be prepared to work until the store is spotless, even if I was scheduled until 10pm I would sometimes be stuck there until 2am. Then the people who were suppose to be visiting often would not come which pushed back when they would be coming. So you would have to do everything all over again. Floor sets suck, you come in at ridiculous hours and often stay late. You do not get your discount on top of sale items.

Advice to Senior ManagementTreat your associates like they are people who have lives. Don't keep people until 2am when they were only scheduled until 10pm. Keep scheduled visits.

Huge disappointed, not as pleasant as you think it is.

Sales Associate/Cashier (Former Employee)
San Francisco, CA

I worked at Victoria's Secret Stores part-time for less than a year

Pros30% off discount, you get to dress sexy in all black weather its wearing heels or a dress, bragging rights, and you get to test out new bras when they come out. You can submit your two weeks notice via internet, and you get to view your schedule at an accessible website.

ConsMostly a bunch of rude girls working at my location I got hired at. I was SO excited to finally get hired here. I was so disappointed when the environment was just so negative! Its like everyone in my department hated working there! I could not be around people like that on a daily basis, so I quit. I wish my work environment was more positive. Also, Im a hard worker, but my store was not a store that let you off when your scheduled to be off, they make you stay over your scheduled time (when scheduled closing) until all the girls are finished with closing the store. You don't leave when your scheduled to be off.
Also if you are an Angel card holder and you get hired here, you can no longer use ANY of your coupons you get from your Angel card, not even the 15$ rewards card. Employees don't get ANY benefits from the Angel Card. You have to check in with a manager before you can try an item on in your store weather on break or off the clock.

Advice to Senior ManagementWork on correcting the attitudes of employees creating a bad work environment
Consider employees preferred department to work in

Glad to be gone

Product Manager (Former Employee)
Pittsburgh, PA

I worked at Victoria's Secret Stores full-time for more than a year

ProsOur store team became a second family to me and I've maintained those friendships years later.

ConsThe pay is laughable. As a manager you are expected to be there more than 40 hours a week but after you reach 40 hours your pay rate for each hour after if half time. It's disturbing when you realize that means you are making less than the minimum wage employees you are managing. And there is not much regard for work/life balance.

My experience here was okay.

Cashier (Current Employee)
West Covina, CA

I have been working at Victoria's Secret Stores part-time for more than a year

ProsDuring holiday there are a lot of hours and there is a good employee discount.

ConsLack of movement in the company, people getting position they don't deserve, and not using their best talent to their advantage in a positive way.

Advice to Senior ManagementPay more attention to who really keeps everything in line when you're not around.

High sales expectations with no reward for your efforts.

Sales Associate (Former Employee)
Whitehall, PA

I worked at Victoria's Secret Stores part-time for more than 3 years

ProsYou get a 30% discount. And the people I worked with were great.

ConsYou only get minimum wage and are forced to sell sell sell but get nothing no matter how great a sales person you are. You are always expected to stay after your shift for extra hours on end. Absolutely no opportunity for growth. I worked here for 3 years and never received a raise even though my reviews were always "exceeds expectations"

Advice to Senior ManagementPay your employees fairly and they'll work harder.

No life, low pay

Cashier/Lingerie Sales Associate (Current Employee)

I have been working at Victoria's Secret Stores part-time for more than a year

ProsThe other associates were great; they really helped make the shift not seem so bad.

ConsI know it's retail, but the customers are absolutely horrible. Once in awhile there are a few really considerate and inviting people, but for the most part they are entitled, obnoxious, and rude. Hourly pay is also extremely low considering the amount of revenue brought forth for the company. Also, you are only full-time if you are in a managerial position. On calls/call ins are the bane of my existence.

Advice to Senior ManagementWhen composing the schedule, just because we are available does not mean we want to work a high amount of hours every week. Most of the associates are also in school and that is not taken into consideration; one manager believed VS should be the priority.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
