I worked at Victoria's Secret Stores full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

The company as a whole is a great company. Their benefits and culture are a plus. Despite the fact the company many recent layoffs - its a good company for the young right out of college. Its also a good company for those who are in the lingerie /swim field. Discounts were great.

    Cons

Overall the company was a great company-but when it broke down to individual areas and teams - it was very difficult. There are a lot of "clicks" and if you don't fit in -and follow -you are outcast . You will not grow within your area. Work life balance might have worked in other areas of the business -but where I worked specifically it was shunned upon especially for those who are younger parents and have a life outside of the company. You were not seen as dedicated to your work if you didn't put in 12-15 hour days and never take a vacation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider treating people with respect. Some of the management was not qualified and did not know how to speak and treat their people. Coming to work to be around management who was always negative and used scare tactics to try to promote work is Not the way to treat associates. Always pointing out the negative and never praising your teams doesn't get results -it only creates a negative work space . People like to come to work knowing they are in a positive environment.

I worked at Victoria's Secret Stores part-time for less than a year

    Pros

I think one of the things that I really liked was the discount. 30% off. & unlike other stores, they give gratis. So free bras & panties sometimes. The people that I met at this store were amazing. I made a lot of great friends here and I think that was the main reason why I stayed longer than I intended to.

    Cons

Retail is retail. The panty bars are ALWAAAAYS a mess and recovering and replenishing takes a really long time. They make unrealistic goals for you. You're expected to make $300 per hour you are working, so if you are working a 4 hour shift, that's $1200 dollars. Even if it's a Monday, they still expect you to do so. Another thing is, at least at my store, they were not as flexible with hours as I was hoping for. They rejected my availability MANY times. They even let go of a few people because of their availability.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Set an example for your team. If you want us to do something right, we expect you guys as managers to do the same. Seeing a manger leaving a mess and expecting the other associates to pick up after them is ridiculous.

The hours are so low! Like 10 hours a week.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I worked at Victoria's Secret Stores part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Most of the people I worked with were also students. Their incomes were supplementary so they were pretty care free. We received free product every time there was a launch.

    Cons

They do a lot of on call shifts. They don't let you know until an hour before if they need you and it is difficult to plan your life around that. They only raise your pay every 6 months and it is 20 cents. When a model gets fired from the company we have to destroy the merchandise that they are on: pouring out shower gels and fragrance. These are good products that would be very useful to a women's shelter.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would prefer to have received less product and a higher raise.

    I worked at Victoria's Secret Stores full-time

    Pros

I learned so much about managing a store during my time there. They really train managers there. I was fortunate to have a DM who really invested in me and my development. Got lots of free/discounted bras during my many years there and also formed many lasting friendships.

    Cons

Unfortunately the DM that took over the district promotes her "favorites", meaning whoever sucks up the most - not by qualifications, emotional intelligence, or based on competencies. The workload was also way too much for the low pay compared to many other retailers who pay much better.

    Pros

Store management promotes a team friendly environment with a customer that really wants to shop and enjoys the branding of the company.

    Cons

Upper management is top heavy and locked in with little turn over making it difficult to move in the store management positions

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at Victoria's Secret Stores part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Easy job and light shifts (4-6 hour shifts) pleasant people beautiful environment not very stressful. I would have stayed if the pay was a little bit better!

    Cons

once you get hired they expect everyone to know everyone else's position as well. To be honest there were not to many cons to this job as long as you come in and do what you have to do as i said the work is pretty simple for male and females. Pay could be a bit better
