I have been working at Victoria's Secret Stores part-time for more than a year

    Pros

First off, Limited Brands is a great company (or L. Brands as they are now called). I love working with and feeling like I actually am helping people, its very rewarding to have someone tell you that something that you have done has literally changed their life... In my store, everyone i work with is so amazing, we have very little drama and its like working with your best friends. The connections you make with customers is also amazing. Bra shopping is a very personal experience and you feel that real connection and trust with our customers and most times they come back and ask to work with you again, I've even had a customer ask for my phone number so that she could text me and make sure i was working every time she planned to come shop with us.

    Cons

Well I'm part time so I dont get any benefits or anything but I've worked there for over a year and have yet to become full time, which I have expressed the desire to multiple times. So i feel like, at least in my store, its very hard to move up and grow with the company. I've been told that they would make me full time numerous times and again it has yet to happen... You also get some snooty clientele but i think that's almost everywhere. Sometimes communication between management isn't the best either. Changing your availability can also be difficult, I've known a number of people who have tired and it either got denied or they approved the change and started getting scheduled way less.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

My advice to management would be to have better communication between other SLT members and with the associates as well. I would also advise not making empty promises such as telling someone that they would be put into a full time spot and not fulfilling it...

I worked at Victoria's Secret Stores part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Great atmosphere & clear instruction. Wasn't a lot asked but it was easy to do. Would go back for temporary work any day.

    Cons

Does not offer full time hours unless you are a manager that is it. Not really any cons.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Keep up the good work.

I worked at Victoria's Secret Stores part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Buy-ins and gratis are awesome. And the one I worked at was very flexible with my schedule as I was in college at the time. The managers were very friendly and helpful, making sure the team learned about each new product that came in with fun team meetings. I also made a lot of great friends working there!

    Cons

The only con is working to set up the semi-annual sale. But that's only twice a year and it's actually not so bad.

I worked at Victoria's Secret Stores full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great company to work for, room for advancement if you're willing to learn, sometimes wait and possibly relocate. Great benefits for part time and full time positions (awesome discount, occasional free items, etc.). Fun work environment.

    Cons

Upper management not always kept accountable. We had issues with our DM not abiding by dress code and coming into the store like that. Stores didn't always keep associates on the same page as far as dress codes and expectations from store to store making it different across the board. One of our store managers didn't always embrace the brand values, which could make it confusing for associates on what to do or what rules to follow.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Set up a truly anonymous way for employees to give feedback. There is an "open door policy" but some have seen repercussions from it, and there doesn't seem to be anonymity like there should be which makes associates and lower level management afraid to give feedback.

I have been working at Victoria's Secret Stores part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great discounts for employees. They work with your schedule if you submit your availability on time. There are opportunities to move up in within the company if that is what you want to do.

    Cons

It might be confusing at the beginning, especially if you get hired during Semi-annual Sales. If you are a part-time employee, there will be weeks where you only get to work 8-12 hours. Managers can get stressed sometimes when trying to meet expected sales numbers.

I worked at Victoria's Secret Stores part-time for more than a year

    Pros

VS has a fun, energetic atmosphere and it's a great place to start out. There are very many potential employee relationships that can turn into friendships - great for girls first jobs. Definitely sign up for the late night stock or sale preparation overtime hours. VS Pink is very fun to work in, but all of the other sales associates look down on you. If I were to do it again, I'd work in intimates from the beginning.

    Cons

It gets a little boring when no ones shopping in the store, but you can keep yourself busy tidying up products. Breaks are only 15 minutes. It's hard to stand in line for food, bring it back to the store & eat it in 15 minutes in a busy mall.

I have been working at Victoria's Secret Stores full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Great benefits, including vacation time, merchandise discount, and employee gratis/buy-in offers. Training of leadership is top-of-the-line. Company looks to promote from within and management is coached to always look for opportunities to develop talent.

    Cons

Some positions pose a greater difficulty in maintaining a work-life balance. As with any other retail business, turnover can be a problem if sales leadership team is not dedicated to associate retention. Staffing needs can be difficult to meet, especially during peak times of year.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The training provided to sales leadership team members is absolutely outstanding when properly delivered. However, there does seem to be some difficulty in completing all training when managers are hired one-at-a-time rather than in a group, since so much of the training is facilitated by nearby stores' managers. It would be great to have new hire managers sent to remote training, where the company could guarantee consistency and completion.
