I worked at Victoria's Secret Stores part-time for more than a year

    Pros

I really enjoyed everyone I worked with, including most people in management. They were all very supportive and made clear what benefits (lots!) and opportunities to succeed were available. Flexible hours were great too

    Cons

There were plenty of days that seemed like we could not possibly do a good enough job in terms of making our segments (in sales)- there was anxiety in everyone's voices and a big emphasis on the fact that we "failed" even if we were all working very hard. Also, upper management was way too interested in my private life.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Trust that the team you spent hours training want to succeed as much as you do. Oh- and if you think telling you what is stressing me out will help my work efforts you should be just as interested to hear I'm stressed due to school as you are in my co-workers' "juicy" gossip about their cheating boyfriend.

I have been working at Victoria's Secret Stores part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

-Great discount-30% year round, 40% for a short time during holidays, Nice gratis buy-ins all throughout year
    -Flexible hours
    -Close bond with co-workers

    Cons

-On call shifts (must call 2 hours before your on call shift to see if they'll be using you for your shift)
-No position is paid enough, managers make a couple dollars more than sales associates
-Raises are anywhere from literally a PENNY to 10 cents
-Open on holidays including Thanksgiving, Xmas Eve

I have been working at Victoria's Secret Stores part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Training is very good for a retail job- Two days learning about the company, policies and the store layout. One day learning the computer system/cash register. One day learning bras/sales. All training is paid.

Discount is pretty good- 30% off of all full-price merchandise. If something is on sale or is a multiple (i.e. 2/$32, 5/$26.50, etc.) then you have to take the sale price.

You know your schedule one week ahead of time.

    Cons

Pay with VS is not good. Associates are constantly pushed to meet sales goals for "segments" in order to make more money for the company but are paid minimum wage or slightly above. I started at $7.50/hr back in 2012 and am now making $8/hr in 2014 (I left for about 6 months and made $10/hr at a job that was assigned through my school).

Management will keep associates up to date on loyalty tracking (how many customers open an Angel card through you) and personal sales (daily, monthly and year-to-date). A new list was posted last night while I was working and my coworkers and I were shocked to see how much we had made for the company year-to-date...it's hard to believe that we have each made anywhere from $20,000 to $65,000 so far this year but we cannot afford to purchase a bra, even with our employee discount!

Hours are inconsistent and vary from week to week, as with many retail jobs. Associates may be scheduled for 5-10 hours one week and 35 the next. That said, if you rely on a consistent paycheck, this may not be the right place for you to work.

Little room for growth within the company. A woman that I worked with had been with the company for over 3 years and expressed interest in every promotion that opened up, only to be beaten out by multiple friends of the management team.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look within the company when making decisions about promotions. Wouldn't it be nice to hire someone in a management position who already had experience and was familiar with company policies?

I have been working at Victoria's Secret Stores part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Have been able to see many employees get promoted to sales lead positions or supervisors. Recognition for making big sales and providing great customer service and also for getting people to sign up for the Angel credit card. Employees are offered new bras or fragrances at a discounted price or free, respectively, so they can provide personal testimony to customers.

    Cons

A lot of pressure to get customers to sign up for the store credit card and to get them to buy multiple full-priced $50+ bras. Employee discount % is not that great especially because you can't combine offers/discounts but great discounts for new bras and new fragrances. Employee compensation is not that great - performance reviews dictate the raise you get, but it's usually an increase of about $0.25-0.75; never more than $1.

I worked at Victoria's Secret Stores

    Pros

People, discounts, free stuff, working during the big sales

    Cons

When they push you to help people who don't want help when there are few customers in the store, lots of hours, call ins, when the store is slow and all there is to do is fold underwear

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more flexible about time off, be able to tell if they need you for call ins further in advance

Discounts on store items, fun work environment, occasional freebies, ability to move up if the desire is made known

    Cons

I worked at Victoria's Secret Stores part-time for less than a year

    Pros

I learned that retail was not for me while working here. As stressful as it was, the store managers were all great and I am very glad to have worked for and met them. They are kind, want you to grow, are very helpful, and do their best to work with you when there are conflicts.

    Cons

Our location was a busy one, so when traffic was heavy, it can be a nightmare with long lines and time-consuming transactions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Compensation should have been a bit better, but overall, good work.

I worked at Victoria's Secret Stores part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Free merchandise when new products are released. Whenever we were introducing a new bra in our stores the store associates would get the bra for free if we filled out a worksheet. We also got free beauty products too. It's only a 30% employee discount though.

    Cons

There are too many people they hire at once and because they have so many associates the company pays the bare minimum wage. The number of associates makes it difficult to get any hours. When they hire employees you are stuck in the category they hired you in:Pink, Bra Specialist, Beauty, Cashier. They don't let you connect to other parts of the store which makes it hard to help customers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Train all the associates at the cash wrap so that employees are more efficient.
