    Pros

Clients are matched to employees skill level and personality. There is a lot of support from management. Schedules are flexible.

    Cons

    Pay is lacking.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Overall the job is good, but if the position paid more with benefits, the turnover rate would not be as high.

I worked at Visiting Angels part-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

You are pretty much your own boss as long as you are on time and do what you are hired to do. You are not called constantly to fill shifts. If you want a lot of hours, you can have them if not, it is respected.

    Cons

No raises, if you say nothing, management doesn't either. handbook says after 3 months you get a review then a raise after the so called "probation" period. Raises if any, consist of cents not a dollars. Literally cents (.10-.25) and that with most after years of dedicated work. After 5 years of dedication stated at $7.25 and ended at $7.80 I knew of co-workers making less that $8.00 after 10+ years with the company. But owner drives a Jaguar (?)No medical benefits and if wanting employment verification, you will always be a part time employee not NEVER full time. Even if you work 60 hours a week. That is because customers are seniors and could go into a nursing home or pass away and leave you suddenly with no hours.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Regular reviews. Training, benefits. Recognition with a small perk like a gift card or a paid day off. When employee leaves company under good terms, a thank you for all the hard work and for taking on many many extra hours covering shifts when no one else would, would be appropriate. Personal access to the CEO without immediate supervisor to encourage/suggest change without feeling intimidation. Anonymous supervisor review from employees in addition to closed staff meetings with CEO only.

I have been working at Visiting Angels part-time for less than a year

    Pros

I met some really nice people and they were generally fun to work with. I was able to have a flexible schedule with them while I was trying to figure out what I wanted to do school wise and career wise. They were willing to pay for mileage over 15 miles.

    Cons

Management lets a lot of things slide that should be prevented... Even for a company who says they are non-medical, I was expected to administer medications (although they say it wasn't administering, but I know the difference since I administered meds at a facility where it was medical).
They managed to get away with not paying overtime and in order to keep clients, they are willing to pay the caregiver less money so they have more business. At one point, I had a client who was at a high care level sneak their 3 week old nephew to stay with them and the caregivers were to take care of both of them. Some of the hardest work nights of my life!
When I was first hired they pushed me to work with a man who abused his caregivers and pretended that he didn't know what was going on. The owner of the company often visited him and knew that he did it! In the end, I told them I never wanted to work with him again. And even though he treats his caregivers that way, he is still a client working with young women to care for him!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Talk to your staff and investigate your clients more! It's hard only communicating over the phone and over email!

I have been working at Visiting Angels full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Friendly, warm , happy environment for the most part. Positive and uplifting most of the time.
    Generous and Kind Director.

    Cons

Unreasonable expectations for team efforts. Carrot was always placed beyond reach. Favoritism to some brown nosing employees. Refusal to pay commissions accordingly- had an angle on pay out for scheduled appointments. Inconsistent direction from higher ups due to health/memory issues. Refusal to pay for staying past scheduled hours- even when it was part of the job or contributing to daily goals. Schizophrenic direction, complaints and accolades all combined. Could be confusing at times. You hit the ground running training was minimal.
