No full time hiring taking place at the time of my co-op

    Neutral Outlook

    I worked at Volvo

    Pros

You can certainly advance within the Volvo Group e.g. Volvo Parts, Volvo IT, etc. Non Automotive Purchasing is only one organization within Volvo Group.

    Cons

USA employees have to follow globabl directives. No advancement opportunities within the local organization. Very high focus on cost savings. No bonus.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Trust your employees judgement. Global does not always know what local people know.

I have been working at Volvo

    Pros

Strategically the company is run very well financially.. Volvo is methodical in decision making to best balance profit, customer service, growth and employee satisfaction..

    Cons

Career development is talked about or limited to specific category of people to meet quota requirements.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Great hidden talent within the ranks of workers who are held back by lack of developmental policies that would promote growth and career development. All talk but little action.

I worked at Volvo as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

    Flexible hours
    No stress
Great organisation, scheduling and task division
You can actually have a voice also if you are young and with not too much experience
    High reputation and profile
    Available and kind employees

    Cons

Difficult to get in contact with people from different layers
People are very busy, so if you need their time you have to be fast and concise
Some obstacles if you do not speak Swedish (certain times during meetings employees do not remember that there is someone who cannot talk Swedish and they start talking Swedish, or if you are talking about a scientific topic, they prefer to switch to Swedish)

    I worked at Volvo

    Pros

The core value of the company, is to take care of the people that work for them. You can have a job for a lifetime with them (if you are part of the Volvo Corp contract). If you are hired by an outsource division, you wont be so lucky.

    Cons

In Volvo Mexico there is just around 25 people working for Volvo. It's a small office with few resources. You'll need to handle huge amount of tasks with few hands to support the operation. You wont have much personal time. You wont be able to see the daylight when working for this company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Just be honest with employees. Keep couching the Management and Directors Team, because they need some much to learn about leadership.

    Approves of CEO
