    Nice people great company

    I worked at Volvo

    Pros

Very laid back, there are lots of opportunities to make and impact. The people are diverse, and it is easy to have a great work life balance. Hagerstown is a decent pace to live close to many major cities on the east coast. Low cost of living and the occasional thing to do.

    Cons

Not much formal training for Co-Ops it seems disorganized at times. It is a big company with some red tape at times. Weather is cold in the winter and humid in the summer. You will be living with roommate if you live in Kaplan (but its free :) )

I worked at Volvo as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

There is a very stable office culture, with most employees having families. Going to see someone from a different department is easy, and everyone is willing to put down what they are working on to help you. It is a good place to settle down.

    Cons

Depending on location, the location of employment could be in a small town because of pre-existing factory locations.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Employees are treated well, but maybe more team activities outside of work could help.

I worked at Volvo as an intern (more than an year)

    Pros

I was treated like a regular employee, not as I assumed an intern would be treated. I was invited to many meetings with high level management and again, I was listened to as a regular employee. I learned about several different aspects of the industry. I believe my department had great management, project leaders and director. My internship was renewed. Therefore, I was given an additional 6 months of employment. I was given a good referral when applying to additional positions with in the company.

    Cons

It took several weeks before I recieved my company laptop, and during this time I had nothing to do. When I asked what I could do (anything I could read or follow and watch and learn from another employee) I was told "Don't worry about it. You are alright. Just wiat for your computer." Therefore, I basically did not learn anything about my position or the company for those couple of weeks.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Utilize your interns to thier full capabilities.

    Cons

lack some key variables such as communication between different departments, technology applied to manufacturing is high but low on supporting teams like logistics and transportations

I have been working at Volvo

    Pros

Great medical and dental benefits and one of the last companies to offer cash pension plan.
Takes care of employees, does not lay off employees at the slightest whim and fancy.
Management supports your ideas and information flows freely between management and employees.
Personal business plan for employees - excellent way of stating actionable goals to achieve in a year and monitoring them.

    Cons

Slowest decision making process and after spending countless weeks discussing it in "workshops".
Senior management lacks a backbone to take tough decisions.
Decisions made in Sweden sometime absolutely make no sense.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

management in Sweden: There are awesome guys working in NA. Listen to them so that they feel that thier opinion is being heard.
