I have been working at Volvo full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

It is nice working in a global environment. The vast majority of people actually care about what is going on and what they can do to progress the company. Your ideas are always looked into and if they are an improvement they will be implemented. Great place to balance work and family. The benefits are wonderful!

    Cons

Advancement I think can be difficult at times. Once you "master" your job you become a valuable asset to the team when it comes to reaching it's goals and vision. I believe this leads you to being left in place at times.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Share your vision with your employees better. We know what is needed and expected but sometimes the delivery of the message is foggy. Ask people if they want to move on to other things which will make better employees in the long run. Nobody wants to be "stuck" in a job. We want to move our careers forward just like Volvo wants to move it's business forward.

I have been working at Volvo as a contractor for less than a year

    Pros

Great pay and benefits, some of which are quite unique to the company.

    Cons

Not much time to learn/adjust some roles. Not every person instructing such roles (at each of the stations) is a fit instructor.

    I worked at Volvo

    Pros

I really like the way Volvo executed projects. There was always an avenue to approach upper management. I liked the way they handled difficult situations.

    Cons

Volvo bought out Mack Trucks Inc. Therefore I had two headquarters to report and recieve requests. There seemed to be an internal competition as to who knew the best way. I was caught in the middle of the conflict.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The mainframe systems at my location were being phased out. I did not see any opportunity for the future. I really liked Volvo alot, but there should have been an avenue for me to pursue with them.
