    Pros

Exposure to multiple facets of the company's organization and some degree of interaction with a few of them.

    Cons

The tendency toward the static, rather than dynamic operationally.

    Advice to Management

Requiring accountability from employees is not a negative.

    Pros

The pay was really good $10 plus commission.

    Cons

Selling! Everyone has cell phones, no one wants house phones anymore. And it's like after a certain amount of weeks that you haven't sold a phone, you get cut. So it's not a forsure job. I wouldn't recommend this.

    Pros

Wonderful benefits such as subsidized lunch, free gym, and company events such as volunteer days; modern office equipment and work from home flexibliity.

    Cons

Just below the top leadership levels, the management is ladden with tenured employees who are resistent to change. There are cliques and the lunchroom feels a bit like HS.

    Pros

There are good people at the operational and day-to-day team level. I really enjoy working with my team and many other parts of the organization. There are a number of teams that want to do what's best for the organization and try to be successful. The building, facilities, and amenities are also very nice. Its a very open space, WiFi everywhere so you aren't confined to your desk. Very good coffee and cafeteria and an onsite gym open early and late are both pluses.

    Cons

There is difficulty with the company culture as a number of teams are stuck in the past of how they operate without much willingness to change. At heart its a software company that has to move faster to stay up with competitors. There is also a difficult cultural environment that is drive from executive where differences of opinion or simple facts about the market or a product are perceived as a threat or are discarded. Any company has resource issues, but the inability for some executive to listen to solutions on these issues or change the company's culture led to a number of good people leaving the organization in frustration.

The location (Holmdel, NJ) is a difficult one if you don't live in Monmouth or the surrounding counties. Myself, my VP and a number of my team members and senior management live in the NYC area. The commute for some is 2+ hours depending on traffic. It also becomes very difficult to recruit good talent because of the location.

    Advice to Management

There has been a recent change in executive management at the company and overall it seems like a good change for the direction of the company and the overall culture. The company needs a different outlet than the legacy home phone replacement business and the new leadership should give some new direction on what the future strategy will be for the company outside of the traditional revenue models.

I did enjoy a lot of my time here, learned a great deal, and am appreciative of the overall experience.

    Good work environment, decent pay

    Pros

We were giving an ample training program (paid) as well as a lunch allowance with a starbucks available in the building as well. The work itself is not especially difficult and the management seemed to engage with employees.

    Cons

Certain policies regarding customers and their problems were seemingly bad for long term relationships. Seem like shortsighted profit growth over long term customer retention.

    Advice to Management

Better understanding of customer issues with service and better education on how to provide a lasting fix that creates long term dedication from customers to the Vonage service over a money grab.

    Pros

Growing company. Great concept. Provides lunch. Great environment. Good teammates. A good place to start a career.

    Cons

Career growth can be challenging. Outsourced most call center people. Some team leads can manage better and be more personable.

    Pros

The people at Vonage are very easy to get along with. People "in the trenches" generally work together well and want to do the right thing. The company is fairly generous with time off and other such fringe benefits.

    Cons

The higher level direction of the company is very erratic. It tries to do everything at once by constantly shifting focus between multiple concurrent priorities. This contributes to burn out for the employees stuck doing the work.

    Pros

It has a very family like culture. Co-workers were great. The benefits are also really good.

    Cons

Management needs a lot of training. They only promoted their friends. If you don't like to be micromanaged I would highly not recommend working here.

    Advice to Management

Less micro-management, bring people from the outside to do internal promotions.

    Pros

Great training for tech agents and ample opportunity for promotion if you want to study and work hard. Good work environment and great food. Pay is good and can be great if you move up. Overall a pleasant environment if you just want a job in the communication industry.

    Cons

Some politics to say the least. Some real idiots manage to get supervisory positions (again, some politics). Draconian rules about attendance, maybe that has changed since I left. I worked there for almost 4 years and was released without a care because of one mishap with a customer who was abusing me on the phone (I hung up, a big no, no).

    Advice to Management

Less meetings about BS and more pay and flexibility for the employees This was the direction the company was going in when I first arrived (just before there was a major management and employee shake-up).
