    Review of WMS Gaming

Senior Principal Manager (Current Employee) Waukegan, IL

ProsClose by home good products engineering was solid

ConsUpper managers and VPs were clueless on issues too much politics, unearned promotion and retention of poor employees.

Advice to Senior ManagementPut away the politics and the need to have power and huge bonuses, let the people who know how to run their departments do it and support the managers.

    Sr. Test Gaming G2S Engineer

Senior Test Engineer (Current Employee) Las Vegas, NV

Prostesting the DGM/EGM via G2S is awesome test engineering dutires. The QC test cases on hand are an exceptional QA tool and processes

Conssome personnel are to protective and are reluctant on providing you further detail knowledge for full integration of test coverages for the DGM/EGM

Great Place to work 5 years ago. Gone Done Hill badly!!

Customer Service Representative (Current Employee) Las Vegas, NV

ProsGreat Benefits, Pay is comparable to industry standards.Workplace is safe and secure. Nice Facilities and located in the center of Las Vegas.

ConsWorking 1800 miles away from our Corporate office is logistically a nightmare. We were just informed that 24 people will be laid off affective March 28th. No Loyalty.

Advice to Senior ManagementManagement Change. The current Management will bring WMS/Sci-Games down. A change needs to be done at the top, and award the workers, not the directors.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Am I in high school again?

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Chicago, IL

    ProsBenefits, casual environment, flexible hours

ConsThe few women that DOES work there, are extremely catty. There's one in particular that you need to watch out for. I feel everyone is scared of her. They pre-judge you and will form an alliance against you. Alot of profanity is used amongst the men there in open forums. Senior management doesn't get around to visit with the "little people."

Advice to Senior ManagementGet to know your employees new and/or OLD. Understand whats going on in your own department thats right under your nose - and actually do something about it if its causing friction between employees.

Great company, but management is terrible

Senior Software Engineer (Current Employee) Chicago, IL

ProsThe company is great. They care about your fitness. They have a great cafeteria. They generally want you to be happy.

ConsThere are way too many managers. I'm not kidding. There will sometimes be 5-10 developers to a project and 30 managers. Not a lot of work or innovation ever gets through.

    A Good Place to Work

Senior Software Engineer (Current Employee) Chicago, IL

ProsGreat people to work with, exciting times to be in the gaming industry. Offers a good benefits package, with encouragement and rewards for wellness.

ConsSalary and bonus lag due to tough times in the casino/gaming industry. Work hours can be demanding. Schedules often set before work estimation.

Steady job, decent pay, uninspiring work

    Artist (Current Employee) Chicago, IL

ProsThe job is steady, work hard and well and you won't ever live in fear of layoffs. Benefits are nice, co-workers are good people. Royalties available, depending on successful projects.

ConsSlot development in general is rather boring. The pay's great, almost a guaranteed ROI, but there's no excitement. Too many design decisions come down to design-by-committee-of-higher-ups, stifles talent & innovation, creates stagnant design philosophies that never truly push any envelopes.

Advice to Senior ManagementIntegrate a proper game development pipeline with real milestones. Allow developers to create a style for a game that they can then stick to without fear that the Committee isn't going to like minutiae that force artists & designers back to the drawing board.
