Like a roller coaster ride, the job had no long term stability in any area of the company.

I worked at WS Packaging Group full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Nice location and rewards for safety.

    Cons

Management and supervision on the floor was almost non-exsistent. Also, too many inappropriate situations were either ignored or simply tolerated. No moral compass here!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Real people with families work here not only machines and computers. Also, too much favortisim is ruling the roost along with hiring employee's family members and friends.

I have been working at WS Packaging Group full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

The non-management workers are great and care about the company.

    Cons

The CEO has put too much emphasis on lean and not enough on getting new sales. He has top loaded management with his cronies paying them a high salary. He has laid off good productive people instead of his buddies in management. Company once had a family feel, now you are just a number.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get a new CEO and re-organize management.

I have been working at WS Packaging Group full-time

    Pros

A lot of the people there are very nice, and a lot of them are also very experienced and quite helpful.

    Cons

The WS Group is very big in label sales, but very small in the Automation Division (ASD). As a result of that, we are seen as the redheaded stepchild of the company. The label sales-people will bully the ASD division into doing things as they please. We have been referred to as "Idiots" by the label sales people. Projects are not clearly defined from the beginning and as a result, the projects end up being problematic or unprofitable.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please clearly define the scope of a project from the beginning and ask all the questions

I worked at WS Packaging Group full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Highly dedicated work force willing to do whatever is necessary to satisfy the customer.
Vast decorating technology with a national presence and vast client network.

    Cons

Lack of leadership, direction, trust, integrity and moral compass. Core values diminished in exchange for a control and command leader, highly process driven (TPS/LEAN) when applied in the Danaher model undermining the core values instilled over the past 40 years of employee engagement and empowerment philosophy.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get back to the grass roots level of the organization, learn the business and interact with the employees instead of applying the danaher lean philosophy of "dog eats dog".

I have been working at WS Packaging Group full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    GM is gone
things are looking better for the meantime

    Cons

this IMPACT thing is dragging down the business - lost quality completely and focus only on $$$. Lots of new people working without training. Employees don't care anymore

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

get out on the floor and actually speak to the employees - not in your gemba walks. work with these people hand in hand. Learn what your new practices have created. Put away your phones and computers and TALK TO US.
