    Pros

It's decent as you get a good pay and benefits such as the partner discount

    Cons

My manager is not capable to do his job. I have never been so frustrated at any of my other managers as I have with my current. No organization, No desire to work, Lazy and extremely rude.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to staff at the bottom and DO SOMETHING when they have addressed a clear issue / problem that they are not happy about. Managers seem to be able to do pretty much anything and get away with it.

    Pros

The bonus once a year is nice, but not worth it.

    Cons

They take advantage of you, work you to death, managers would leave me to run the section by myself on busy weekends, which was not my job. do not raise your salary for at least 8 months after you take a promotion, management do not know the answers to most questions to do with important things like pay etc. it's somewhere you go to be trapped forever and end up hating every customer that comes in. FYI, every customer is foul and will treat you like their slave. If you are verbally abused by a customer at work, management will not care. It may seem worth it for the bonus, but I left it for a much lower paid job and am so happy. Also, the uniform is so strict. Also also if you do something great like clean up sick or poop, you will get no thank you.

    Pros

Pay Scheme: Reviews every 3 months
    Bonus Scheme

    Cons

    Non Exiseant Job Enrichment
Monotonous Work: Possibly expected for a Supermarket, but there was little opportunity to branch out.
Silent Staff Room - Very minimal integration of sections

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

A lot more flexibility - Trust in the employees more and the results will be evident. Didn't feel like part of a team or 'family' as some might say, treated like a machine.

    Pros

    Yearly bonus & partner discount

    Cons

To say working for Waitrose was an eye opener is an understatement as I naively thought that the staff were rewarded well financially for their work & were treated well generally. This may well be the case but not at our branch!!
Snotty managers who don't appear to appreciate or value their staff or know how to communicate with them, leading to low staff morale. The pay is surprising poor for the multiple roles we are expected to perform.
Extremely limited career opportunities for grass roots staff
In other words, unless desperate - avoid like the plague!!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be nicer & more communicative towards staff and let them 'feel the love' from time to time - it may stop people leaving in droves!!!

    Pros

Pay and having every other weekend off

    Cons

No training given. I joined as a manager from my previous employer, but have been expected to just get on with it. There has been no structured training program. Rather than train me I just get told off for not knowing things. Department manager is a dictator and I am sure if she went through the interview process now she would not get the job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get a proper training program in place for new managers. Recognise that some DM's are only out for what they can get and do not care about the Partners that work for them.

    Cons

They always mess up the pay every month and thi makes cash flow very hard, im always under paid. This means i hae stopped doing overtime. You shoot yourself in the foot if you work hard as you will always be doing the rubbish cages at very hard deadlines. 108

    Pros

Great benefits including holiday cottages, discount card, pay good, bonus good and fair

    Cons

Management level is a lot of hours, and retail is 24/7

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You have to go back to the Waitrose ideals of offering Partners a work life balance and not turning into Tescp
