I worked at Waitrose part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

A company that values its workforce and tries to focus on their welfare

    Cons

Holidays were a slight hassle to book. A few managers were incompetent and lazy, leaving the supervisors to balance this out with their hard work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more consistent in how you treat each partner.

I worked at Waitrose part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Waitrose has great company values that result in a positive working environment, atmosphere and culture. Training was thorough and well planned. Annual bonus is welcomed too.

    Cons

Work-life balance is generally OK but management do try to squeeze as much overtime as possible out of the few employees they have. Of course it is your choice to defer overtime but then it's not really a choice when you are on a temporary contract and looking for an extension.

I worked at Waitrose part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Partnership bonus, great benefits and employees are valued. Free and discounted cinema tickets and concert venues as well as great staff events and charity fundraisers.

    Cons

Long hours during seasonal periods, and often workers are not valued as much throughout these busy periods. Training feels rushed.

    Pros

    - Good opportunities for progression within the company.
    - Good attitude to development.
    - Good values and bonus sharing scheme every year.

I worked at Waitrose part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Nice working part time as a secondary school - rent free student, well paid, easy work, great perks. The appeal wears off as you tend towards full-time work as a self-supporting individual.

    Cons

Not very flexible, FBS ruined the once great Waitrose.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I worked for operations and I also agree it's a stupid and inefficient system (FBS). Revert back to the old structure, the guys pushing or stock know more about the stock than anyone on operations. Reducing and duties such as stock counts are far more efficiently completed by members of the relevant team.
