    Pros

Great place to start a managers career. They will give you a chance to move up.

    Cons

The job is a lifestyle, no real balance of work life, lots of divorces for long term employees do to job hours. Not for lone wolfs, socialization is key to move up in the company, not how hard you work. If management you are not Human, and can not have feelings all activities are black and white no shades of gray.

    Advice to Management

Try to retain good workers, there is to high of a turnover 46% at most locations, so you are ending up with just body's. Properly fill department , the business will prosper for it.

I have been working at WalMart Canada part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

10% Discount on everything, which is pretty good considering that works even if you price match Less of a hectic work environment than fast food.

    Cons

Photolab has been slowly shutting down leaving less staff and less hours. Management in electronics is not always very competant

    Advice to Management

Know the products you are in charge of, don't put elderly people in departments they are not comfortable because you like their availability better than people who can do the job properly.

I have been working at WalMart Canada part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - 10% discount on all merchandise (except clearance) - Yearly bonus up to $600 if your Walmart store has a surplus of profits - Open-door policy is strictly followed by managers and they care about your concerns, i.e., will buy new equipment or supplies if broken/dirty. Management is not a dictatorship here in this store and they respond and command in a fair manner. - Yearly evaluation can yield an additional 30~ cents to hourly wage, and there are also good merit raises. - The produce crew is very efficient and experienced, and all of them exercise team-work very well. Any new employees who aren't committed to the job are often warned or taken care of, so management is good on that part.

    Cons

    - In this specific store, storage space is a problem. Back area for dairy, frozen, produce, and meat are often congested. Not anyone's fault really. - Some assistant managers who don't usually oversee produce have high expectations for the produce department. They often don't understand how we delegate our tasks, so most of the times their instructions are trivial and obvious.

    Advice to Management

    - Management can gain a better perspective of the produce department if sometimes they would come work with us more often and do some hands-on work with fellow associates filling tables.
