    walgreens is a changed company

Was Assistant Manager (MGT) Now SFL (Current Employee)
    Fresno, CA

Proswalgreens is a great place to work if you like fast pace environment and are good at customer service.

Conswalgreens has gone through a couple of years of reorganization which has not benefit us managers. they have eliminated some core positions including MGTs making a good portion of us step down to be only key holders and taking a BIG pay cut and being caped on that salary

Advice to Senior Managementwalgreens has all ways been a good employer but the changes really show that we are now just a number. its all about revenue now. Having positions that are suppose to be non-management with low-caped pay is not right these key holders do to do manager duties on a daily bases and should be payed much more than they do particularly when a good standing employee with 10 years plus is effected by it.

I worked at Walgreens as a summer job after my last year of high school.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsIt is a stable job as there are rarely closing or downsizings within the company. Large corporation has opportunity for upward mobility.

ConsLong shifts are sometimes inconvenient for part time job as shifts are always 8 hours at a 24 hour location.

ProsWhen you find a place that offers better pay on performance, longevity benefits, and work life balance: R-U-N.

ConsPolitics are your way up or out. Be the mayor and you will do fine.

Advice to Senior ManagementPractice what you preach.

    It's not easy

Executive Assistant Store Manager (EXA) (Current Employee)

    Prosjob security, discount, benefits, pto

Consstressful, high demand, turnover, work life balance, less career opportunities than in the past.

Advice to Senior ManagementIf you are coming to Walgreens from college without any experience, it is not gonna be what you expect. Managers are not "pencil pushers" They are responsible for stocking the shelves, running photo, required CPht so they can help in pharmacy and the list goes on.

    Nice

    Certified Pharmacy Technician (Current Employee)
    Las Vegas, NV

ProsEarned PCTB certification. Fexible hours if you are priority.

Conslow pay for technicians, management differs in people, some good some bad.

Advice to Senior ManagementLike I said it differs, but last bad manager thought she was all big and bad boss and needs to be more humble..

    Assistant Manager in training

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsVery fast paced job. You are expected to keep up with the pace of the store. Good pay for recent college graduates to start off with

ConsYou will be very tired. You have to restock inventory, deal with customer complaints and work in the pharmacy as well.

Advice to Senior ManagementTry hiring more pharmacy staff. Store manager and shift leaders have enough work to do without worring about the pharmacy.

    Acceptable short-term occupation

    SrCPhT (Current Employee)
    Gainesville, FL

ProsPay for little to no educational background

ConsCompany ethics are going down hill quickly. Be prepared to have your hours cut back drastically during slower months (Summer usually). Be prepared to work major holidays all day and not have time for family.

it s' not easy to be certain about what make sure most of the when we know our feelings

    Walgreens Cashier (Current Employee)
    Cottonwood Heights, UT

Proswhy do we do things we do? what make sour of the moment decisions as well as the important deciscions our lives?

    Consput costomers, complaints into perspective

Advice to Senior Managementno matter how hard we try we're always going to have some unhappy customers. customers that are dissatisfied or become irate. A key part of giving goog customer complaints.. again the focus is on direct customers.but the skills apply to all of the 'customer's we encounter on and off the job.
