I worked at Walmart full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

forming friendships with asscoictes. Everyone gets a bonus.

    Cons

Some members of management are very rude. If you want to attend school and have a job at walmart, they don't care. They won't work with your schedule. Want to move up fast? Then you need to kiss up to management. And if you want to be management, say good bye to your life because it will always be about walmart.

    Advice to Management

    Respect your employees.

I have been working at Walmart full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Salary is above par with competitors. Good advancement opportunities early on. Lots of opportunity to do different things every day. A.

    Cons

Management follow up is poor even on a salary level. Customers are notoriously messing things up but demand perfection. Most associates have a poor work ethic.

    Advice to Management

Remember that your salary managers are people too and have needs like an hourly associate. Open door seems to stop at this level.

I have been working at Walmart part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

10% off, Slightly higher/ semi decent pay. Meet great people, Learn a large set of skills but some only apply to walmart ie using walkie stacker.

    Cons

Yearly pay increase have been drastically cut, Understaffing meaning you get high workloads and are expected to meet them. Favoritism is the most certain way to advance. If your to good at your job area, they wont move you.

    Advice to Management

Unionize. Only way to get benefits back and increase staffing properly. Also being forced to cut people is never fun, and by cut i mean look up attendance records to fire them.

    Cons

management is not able to give clear and direct direction, they do not give proper rases, to much favortism or promotion they change your schedule with little or no warring.

    Advice to Management

be more fair stop promoting people that just kiss butt do not let your position go to your head, stop telling one thing and doing another, stop giving one direction and change it and blame us for it and stop throwing people under the bus for your mistakes

    Pros

Management did not hover over me too much which was nice. there was always nice music playing throughout the store.

    Cons

Too many to list. Management were not in sync with each other; they constantly gave contradicting orders. They tracked exactly how long it took you to do everything. Management was at often times very rude and condescending.

    Advice to Management

    Quit.

I worked at Walmart as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

The atmosphere can be great a lot of the time. Working with the customers gives you great satisfaction when your customers leave happy. Partial fellow co-workers are friendly and assist in your time of need. This job demands patience and kindness to your customers, therefore you will learn to have those two qualities if not already have them.

    Cons

Many times employees will be ignored when trying to get assistance from managers. Even customers would get ignored when trying to address a problem to a manager or even if they need help finding a product. Managers and other employees will not make the customer feel as though they are important. Customer service is very poor by most who work there.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to be more structured. They need to come to the realization that they need their employees and customers therefore show more appreciation for for them. A customers happiness should be their number one priority not ignoring them.
