I worked at Walt Disney Company full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Kind people that are easy to work with up to about the first level of Management, but after that they care little about what they do to the people below them or how they treat them. View the people as raw resources they use up and throw away at will or at any time.

    Cons

Ironically the poor ethics and morals of the company involving at least middle/upper management which is completely in contrast with the external image the company portrays. As one Director once told me "it's not about the people". Very poor career advancement and educational opportunities. Poor work-life balance. No loyalty to the employee at all regardless of the quality of that employee.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Revisit the teachings of Walt Disney and put them into practice rather than just give them lip service. Don't trust information provided solely by those that directly report to you.

I worked at Walt Disney Company as an intern

    Pros

Only pros working for Disney is being able to live in Orlando and receiving a very small discount for the parks.

    Cons

Work-life balance is terrible. Pay can be equated to slave labor, Disney College Program is useless and not at all beneficial.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

INCREASE WAGES! No one can live off $7.32/hr! Better pay will benefit work-life balance.

    Pros

Great if you have children and want to get into the park for free. If you don't have kids you may not care.

    Cons

Lack of bonuses or promotion. Managers often get into the position via attrition and aren't suited for the role.

    Pros

    Health benefits and educational reimbursement.

    Cons

Culture and difficult senior management. Everything has to be blessed by at least four or more people, including people who have no seniority or expertise in what you do.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn how to set the example for collaboration and team work and then enforce it.

I worked at Walt Disney Company full-time

    Pros

Feel as part of history. Strong culture related trainings. Company cares about its brand.

    Cons

Does not have culture of developing its own software. Rather just babysitting purchased third party products. Software development managers do not have basic understanding of software development. Asking dumb questions are highly valued as social skills. Solving problems on one's own is viewed as trouble-making.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do not waste money on software development if managers do not have the knowledge of judging software design, and do not have the drive and/or pressure of delivering quality products.

I worked at Walt Disney Company full-time for more than a year

    Pros

It's a brilliant place to work, full of some of the nicest people and most amazing entertainment technology.
Disney training will stay with you for life and can help you get jobs afterward.

    Cons

Low pay, hard work and hard hours. For a company that promotes family values on the surface, they would do well to treat their Cast Members better and pay them a living wage.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Disney management, on a personal basis was wonderful to work with. I worked there while Eisner was in charge and I can't say I miss him. I feel Bob Iger is a great improvement and I'm curious to see where he'll take the company following the acquisitions of Marvel and Lucas.
