I have enjoyed my time at Warnaco and look forward to continued employment for years to come.

ProsLocal management strives to build into the local associates. They voice the local concerns to the corporate partners even when it seems to fall on deaf ears. Local associates are provided many small things such as luncheons and various award programs.

ConsLocal headcounts are so tight that it leaves no room growing outside of the current position. Although growth is encouraged verbally, time constraints leave little time for the activities that will lead to the growth.

    Decent company

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) New York, NY

    Pros-Work-Life Balance
-Decent pay and benefits; summer Fridays are nice
    -Casual dress code
-Nice enough people except some of upper management could change

    Cons-Little opportunity to grow
-Many positions are not well paid

Advice to Senior ManagementIf you are going to ask the questions be prepared to take action to make it a better place to work. Don't talk to talk if you aren't prepared to walk the walk.

    Relaxed Atmosphere

ConsLittle potential for growth and career advancement

Advice to Senior ManagementWarnaco is a well-run company but should continue to allow lower-level employees with opportunity for advancement rather than looking to hire from outside the company.

great job if you have the right boss

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) New York, NY

Prosfair salary, great benefits, good quality of life balance, good time off. summer fridays

Conscannot comment on upper management (CEO, COO etc) but VP and down seem to be clueless in the area and field i am employed in. My direct manager only knows how to manage by intimidation and has a personality disorder so i wouldnt judge based on that. overall good solid company

Advice to Senior Managementhire some management that knows about other areas than there expertise if you are going to assign them to run other types of businesses. Allow direct reports to voice opinion on their manager when manager is inappopriate and borderline abusive.

    Focused on creating his legacy.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) New York, NY

ProsWarnaco Group offers brand recognition and a great place to gain experience in the apparel industry. There is a team oriented environment that provides great exposure to a variety of different fucntions and business. Its a good place to start a career.

ConsSome of the downsides of working for Warnaco is its philosphy and practices in supporting any shared service function. There is rarely a committment to invest in or upgrade any type of infrastructure to improve back office efficiences and often not enough people to manually perform the job. Although improvement has been seen over the past 3 years, engagement survey scores are still below average and after the last round of deep layoffs, I expect that number will get worse. Leadership tends to be secretive which creates a very gossip and speculation infused environment. Reward and recognition is NON EXISTENT and poor performance is not managed.

Advice to Senior ManagementListent to employees and take seriously the feedback you receive. Get rid of senior managers that eat up alot of salary and don't earn a days worth of work. Fill the board room with leaders who have the courage to stand up to the CEO.

    Rewarding but short

Retail Manager (Current Employee) Toronto, ON (Canada)

ProsField locations are given independent decision making authority to satisfy customers. Corporate support is good and encourages questions from the field.

ConsCEO doesn't practice what she preaches, always looking out for number one while pretending to care for the little guy.

Advice to Senior ManagementProvide feedback to the top when message is not resonating with the intended recipient. When in the field, interact with employees more to get candid feedback.

No winder it was bought out by PVH

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Toronto, ON (Canada)

    ProsGreat brands, lots of potential

ConsBad management and work atmosphere. All different brands were so isolated from each other and there was no team spirit. All workers including management talked about each other, it made it hard to build relationships and trust your colleagues. There was no monthly reviews or meetings at all with the head of different sectors, my senior said to me before "sure no one knows what they are doing, its about figuring it" when I asked for guidance on a project. There was also nowhere to move up in the company.

Advice to Senior ManagementLearn to communicate better. Build a better atmosphere so workers like coming into work. Stop talking about employees when others are in earshot. Organise regular meetings and assessments.

Good potential , but short-termism messes things up

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Oud-Gastel (Netherlands)

ProsThe work conditions are good and the environment is informal, managers are in general flexible and understanding, and some are very qualified and care about employees. Corporate information flow from semior management to employees has improved.

ConsProjects are often started but never finished, it is hard to find out who is accountable for what. The high level goals are more or less clear, but the path to get there is usually pretty vague and changing, which makes planning hard, as well as getting any commitment from stakeholders.

    – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company
