Pros – #1 brand in the market, there is no other entertainment company that has the market prestige or market power than warner. this is not to be understated - this power enables them access to the best talent and positions them well with major customers. within wb, there are challenges but also a lot of opportunities to succeed. they are very loyal to their people, which means that you essentially get tenure although it is informal. there is also a lot of dead wood and bureaucracy as a result. i would recommend warner to anyone simply based on the brand. overall a good place to work.
Cons – #1 brand, but execution struggles. there is an expression in the e
Advice to Senior Management – empower your teams

Former Employee – worked at Warner Bros. Home Entertainment
Pros – For starters they invented the home video business and are one of the most highly regarded home entertainment companies in the world. If you are looking for experience at a world class company you can't go wrong working here. These guys created the playbook! You will be exposed to people that are the best in the business (packaged goods at least). Warner has scale and the track record to pitch and acquire almost any type of property and put it through the well oiled marketing and distribution machine. And of course, there's all those free DVDs :)
Cons – My experience at Warner Bros. and WBHE was that career development takes a back seat. The management team is not empowered in this area. Performance reviews don't seem to matter because there is not a proper rewards structure in place. (Unless of course you are VP or above). I would like to see the company be more aggressive in their transition to digital. Sorry, but top management does not have the guts to make tough decisions. Look how long it took them to pull out of HD-DVD! But what happened when they finally did? All the other studios immediately followed their lead and the format was pronounced dead in days. As an industry leader, Warner Bros. needs to step up to the plate more often.
Advice to Senior Management – Communicate more effectively to employees and reward those who perform in a material fashion.

Current Employee – been working at Warner Bros. Home Entertainment as a contractor for more than a year
Pros – -Warner Bros. produces great content, is an industry leader in home entertainment, and is more innovative than other studios with exploring new initiatives; you would be proud to be a part of it.
-Not an overly corporate atmosphere where you are micromanaged
-A lot of great, smart people work here
-Some people are paid well compared to other places; but it depends
Cons – -The Home Entertainment group consists of home video, digital, and interactive... the distribution of individual resources given to each of these subsets is wildly imbalanced, and frankly, makes little rational sense considering trends, numbers, expectations, etc.
-Strong sense of competitiveness between different groups; there isn't a natural tendency to collaborate and share, it's like a fake niceness when they see the others as a threat or someone who could potentially put you out of a job
-A lot of the hardest workers (with the best experience/education) are perpetual contractors that are overworked and underpaid with little to no longterm career prospects - regardless of how well they perform. There seems to be more and more emphasis on cheap labor, which is not a smart way to run the business in the longterm because outside of a bad economy, you give valuable team members absolutely NO motivation to stay... which then makes the team suffer in regards to constant turnover and no one left that is aware of how to get things done.
Advice to Senior Management – Reward good work, not politics. Pay attention to what is best for where the company/industry is headed.
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend

Former Employee – worked at Warner Bros. Home Entertainment
Pros – You work independently and most decisions are made by you. The work is intellectually challenging.
Cons – Management accepts excellence, does not provide feedback or guidance to improve weakness.
Advice to Senior Management – Upper management to pay attention to middle management and their employees.
