ConsUpper Management doesn't share the overall objectives and there's no room for growth

More with less every year

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
Burbank, CA

I worked at Warner Bros. full-time for more than 10 years

ProsDiverse group of talented people committed to success. Cross functional collaboration regularly.

ConsEvery year there are labor cutbacks and outsourcing of job functions despite generally achieving record corporate profits.. It creates a climate of fear and frustration on the part of the "workers.". Efforts are not rewarded and peoples commitment to success is not recognized.

Advice to Senior ManagementYou cannot continually cut the labor force and expect record results every year.

Great company with great people

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Warner Bros. as an intern for less than a year

ProsI really enjoy the people there. They are smart, approachable and very helpful.

ConsThe biggest downside is they don't sponsor H1B visa. It brings lots of hassle for internationals.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe compensation, at least for business departments(not creative side), is not very competitive.

– I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Everything you would expect working at a massive studio.

Writer (Former Employee)

I worked at Warner Bros. as a contractor for less than a year

ProsTHe best thing about Warner Brothers Entertainment was receiving one of their branded checks when the contract was over.

ConsWarner Brothers will work you as hard as you let them and if that is not good enough they will find someone to replace you that day.

Great working on the lot with some nice perks

Human Resources Coordinator (Current Employee)
Burbank, CA

I have been working at Warner Bros. as a contractor for less than a year

ProsThere were some great perks to working for the company such as merchandise, movie screenings, farmer's market on the lot, etc.

ConsIt was such a large company that it was quite difficult meeting other people. Lots of egos to cater to for such little pay. At least at an entry level stand point.

Advice to Senior ManagementSince I was at an entry level position, I barely received any training and was expected to know how to work under the manager before receiving any instruction.

Not a bad company to work for...

Senior Administrator (Former Employee)
Burbank, CA

I worked at Warner Bros. full-time for more than 5 years

ProsBenefits are okay. Amenities are nice, the burbank studio lot is great. Depending on the position, there is a lot you can take control of and that felt rewarding.

ConsAt the end of the day, you are just a number. Pay is below average. It did seem that even though the initiative I took was appreciated, I never got much in the way of a raise. They will keep you in your position for as long as they can, not much room for growth.

Hierarchy and Nepotism

Product Development Intern (Former Employee)
Burbank, CA

I worked at Warner Bros. as an intern for less than a year

ProsIn a culture that rewards and celebrates those with high IQs, it's refreshing to work in an environment where the EQ may dominate the IQ, and the creative must blend with business. Execs are a motley bunch, from JD holders to MBA grads.

Without connections or an Ivy League degree, work ethic and endurance are your two strongest cards at this company, and in this business.

ConsThe intern/assistant/executive hierarchy is lamentable, but it isn't changing anytime soon. Prepare to grind for a few years like in any high-caliber industry (investment banking, consulting).
On any given day, you may ask: "How did this person get a job here? What do they actually do?" Nepotism runs deep in the industry, always has, perhaps always will. Equality in equity and equity in equality have never been the industry's strongest suits.
