    Pros

My qualifications closely matched the job description, so the interview was easy. Though people who hired me moved to different jobs in the next 6 months, the job has proven very interesting and exectly matched the description

    Cons

There is no WaMu any more. JP Morgan Chase did not want to use the WaMu talent, so we all were let go.

    Advice to Management

there was no leadership, otherwise the WaMu would not end up being destroyed. Hopefully it will be a good example for other companies.

    Pros

Like most companies, there are good managers and bad managers and WaMu was no different. I was fortunate to work for good managers -- people who cared about doing a good job and doing the right things. I had several great opportunities while I was there for promotion and recognition.

    Cons

Response time from senior management was slow and indirect. When we could have and should have been dealing with customer and employee fears and concerns, you could hear crickets from the upper floors. It was a shame...

    Advice to Management

Surround yourself with people who know how to deal with a crisis and can do it quickly - while at the same time not upsetting the regulators.

    Pros

The Pay and benefits were good....The co-workers were friendly. IT support was good. It was a nice work environment until the the financial crisis hit.

    Cons

Poor risk managment at the top. Over the top salaries at the top. The blackberry extends the work day. Should of focused on their core products.

    Advice to Management

You don't have a job anymore so I don't see why this would matter that much...Hope you have found a job.

    Pros

Good compensation and benefits, Professionalism of co-workers was outstanding, Lots of opportunity for visibility and opportunities to work with executives, Good Community support

    Cons

Being in the finance industry at this time is very difficult. WaMu is being held up as a "how not to do business".

    Advice to Management

Despite everything that has happened at WaMu, there were some highly capable, inelligent people who worked there who did everything in their power to make the customer happy. It is a shame that it will be remembered otherwise.

    Pros

good atmospheres and nice staff. I did not have many problematic problems. This is somewhere to work at in your career.

    Cons

Work can be down at times. there are not many interesting things to do. the work is the same day in and day out.

    Advice to Management

I advice the management of washington mutual to create more ways to for employees to be happy and willing to work.

    Pros

Like most companies, WaMu has a statement of values. Unlike many companies, the values are present and lived by management daily.

    Cons

Acquisition by JP Morgan Chase will likely bring an end to this great company.

    Advice to Management

A value-based organization is what made WaMu such a great place to work with such great base of individuals. Thanks.

    Pros

For the most part, WaMu followed the core values
    fair
    caring
    human
    dynamic
    driven
lots of opportunties for advancement (until "purchased" by JPMorgan Chase)

    Cons

    poor operational controls
took on way too much risk
    unsound business strategies
    very siloed organization
often insufficient resources to complete initiatives (or too many initiatives)

    Advice to Management

Unfortunately, WaMu is not longer around. I was not with JPMorgan Chase long enough to provide feedback to leadership other than beware of the greed that was a major cause for WaMu's precarious position and eventual destruction.

    Pros

Wamu was a great place to work. It had caring people, fair compensation and a good benefits package. The work felt important to the local economy and was interesting.

    Cons

They are only located downtown Seattle. There was no Eastside presence. IT was not seen as a strategic focus of the company.

    Advice to Management

Focus on the big picture. When looking at ROI take into consideration the intagibles. Employee's are the core of the business.

    Pros

my experience with Wamu was great. I had a good manager who believed in me and the work I did, and who was also a very dedicted and hard working manager. Benefits were excellent and pay was comparable.

    Cons

the obvious is that the high level execs were doing things that were not in the best interest of the company. I would say that lack of communication was the most frustrating thing about the place.

    Advice to Management

since it is now Chase, I don't have any advice for them, because they are clearly NOT Wamu. Some may see this as good, but there are lot of us out there who only see this as sad and very wrong.
