    Positive Outlook

I have been working at Waste Management full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Salary is on par with the work performed. Overtime is always available (at this site, others may not have the option, or much less). Excellent benefits, regular raises. Many expendables are provided to you.

    Cons

Night shift is trying, and can sometimes go until the sun starts to come up. Sometimes can be short staffed. Hours are very erratic which makes it difficult to plan around.

    Advice to Management

A shop with more technicians will always run more smoothly than a shop without.

I have been working at Waste Management full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Excellent benefits. Enjoyable work atmosphere that really pushes employee engagement and helps to build relationships. Challenges it's employees to strive for excellence and allows the employee to take ownership of his/her job.

    Cons

Sometimes the needs of the company override the needs of the employee. Company goals are not always disclosed although the company is doing a better job of disclosing this information.

    Advice to Management

Start from the ground up by really listening to your employees that are the closest to the hard work day in and out. Develop strategies based on this information that can benefit everyone as a whole.

    Neutral Outlook

I have been working at Waste Management full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Waste Management is a very diverse business for the industry. The knowledge you gain on the job never stops. They are not afraid to make changes regarding processes and or departments.

    Cons

The run too tight of a ship. Having a team go from 18 down to 10 and increasing the goals is not sustainable. Management is very detached from the daily functions of the job, handing out more and more projects, doubling and sometimes tripling the workload

    Advice to Management

Sit with your employees once per month, or even once per quarter to really understand the job and all that is involved. That way you stay connected with the most important part of the business; the customer.

I have been working at Waste Management full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good pay, Very Good Drivers, you can stop during rout to get lunch if need too, can take short breaks, and can catch a slight nap on the way to the dump

    Cons

Have to work in harsh weather, some drivers routs are super long, when it rains you still have to be on the back of the truck

    Advice to Management

    Hire more loaders

I have been working at Waste Management (More than a year)

    Pros

Laid back environment, unique shift hours, easy training, good people work here that are supportive if you can deal with the job itself

    Cons

Customer service in general is always rough, but this one is not as bad as most but still you get the callers that think they are your only site. You find out quickly how serious people take trash, stuck in a cubie and on the phone all day is what kills me

    Advice to Management

Need to stop with the scripts, customers really hate that. It makes reps sound like robots and its not personal and doesn't make them feel comfortable. Pay could definitely be higher which would help with workers attitude and moral

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

Great pay And that's about it.

    Cons

Hiring managers who have never driven a truck or have a CDL license. And if you haven't been in the trash business it's hard to come in and become a manager everyone needs to start from the bottom. Senior management doesn't know whats going on drom site to site

    Advice to Management

Hire from within. Wise up the company is going down
