I have been working at Weatherford full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

The general work environment is solid and management is supportive of all staff. What really makes this company strong is the talented people.

    Cons

Limited staff in some areas means vacation is difficult to enjoy. As some have noted, the work-life balance is pretty poor.

Job stability, great benefits overtime. Easy way to enter the industry. Great coworkers. Break rooms and clean restrooms. Lots of parking spots. Gymnastics and aerobics.

I worked at Weatherford full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Weatherford paid extremely well after your first year. I was a mudlogging geologist and doubled my pay within my first three years! Full health benefits with a low deductible really helped keep me there too. Management was fair for the most part and friendly.

    Cons

Computer email system was horrible and cumbersome; I used my gmail account for all business. Ultimately, I left because I worked crazy hours and shifts with no set schedule. This is not a job for anyone with a family. Typical assignment was 3 weeks in the rural midwest with 12hr shifts. Then, you will have 5-8days off. You are always on call but they will give you 24hrs before the start of the assignment. You will live in a rundown trailer next to an oil well and probably share it with 2 or 3 others. There is some favoritism but the oil field in general is who you know.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Implement rotations or some sort of a schedule. high level of burnout in this part of the company.

    Cons

Pay, no room for upward mobility

Great place to start out at

I have been working at Weatherford

    Pros

Great benefits, laid back work environment, good mentor program. Managment is very hands off and allows you to do your job safely without them micromanaging every step

    Cons

Managment seems to only care about their bonuses. Facilities need a lot of upkeep and repairs. Have to make do with what we have instead of upgrading or replacing worn equiptment

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get employees the tools and equipment they need to look more professional instead of making them get by with what they have or rig something up that will work until the next quarter after you get your bonus

I worked at Weatherford full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Great benefits and good pay, 401K, 2 weeks vacation annually, 5 paid sick days.

    Cons

Poor communications, at least at my location.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Requiring one's manager to approve applying for internal positions can lead, as in my case, to a dead-end job.
