Unless you are willing to relocate, or are from New York, there is a limited and slow growth potential.

I worked at Wegmans full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

If you are part of the right clique, its pleasant. If you aren't you won't there too long. Be popular and well liked, or you will not have a good time.

    Cons

Low pay. Even the team leaders in our division made ridiculously low money for what tasks were required from them.

I worked at Wegmans full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Inter-acting with customers. Sampling availability of new products.

    Cons

Lack of access to computers to perform duties. I am an older worker with a strong desire to excel and was repeatedly passed over by mgmt. to hire workers half my age. Unfair job posting process.

I worked at Wegmans part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

The starting hourly wage was good.

    Cons

The managers are very dismissive, they say they care about the well being of all their employees but they never listen or seem to care about you in any way possible. They told me I was part time but would work at least 20 hours a week and sometimes I only had 8 or 9 hours in a week. They also promise to have you work and try out different departments of the store, but even when I expressed interest in many other areas, they never acted on it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    don't be so stuck up.

I have been working at Wegmans part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

I loved the people that I worked with. They were very honest and very caring people that always went the extra mile to help you out. I never chad a boss that was a constant nag, or a co-worker that I simply couldn't stand. All in all, just great people to be around

    Cons

I felt dishonest while working there. I felt like I was poked and coaxed by corporate to give out products that simply aren't the best quality when they easily could be. Right before I handed in my recognition, I worked in the meat department. I saw multiple good people being forced to falsify the weight of the meat so they could raise the price and raise the profit. This sickened me and was the last straw so I decided to resign.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Stp cheating our customers please.

I worked at Wegmans as a contractor

    Pros

The company promotes a sense of family and offers great benefits to full-time employees.

    Cons

Management is composed of people who have worked for the company the longest, not necessarily who is most qualified. They are extremely political and without a doubt play favorites resulting in constant unprofessional behavior and "drama". The workflow for projects is flawed and outdated, often leading to errors, lost work, and wasted time. Although there are many departments and positions in the company, it is extremely difficult to transfer or earn a promotion despite work performance and qualifications. It seems that the only way to do so is to have a family member in the department, or work 20 years with the company. New and different perspectives are not as appreciated or utilized as they should be for such a competitive company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management needs to be evaluated by a higher, non-biased source. There are people in high positions who make working for Wegmans very difficult because of their unprofessional behavior. For a company who projects a progressive and elevated image to the public, they are resistant to change in many ways and not adaptive to industry trends and technologies. Instead of hiring for positions from the enormous pool of existing employees, don't be afraid to let outsiders in for a fresh perspective.

I have been working at Wegmans part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

    1) decent pay (more than the minimum)
    2) some managers put the effort into helping you as an employee
    3) the employees are generally good to work alongside
    4) you do feel like you're working hard and well at times

    Cons

    1) most of the managers only care about keeping the checkout lines to a minimum
    2) not as much consideration for the employees or getting to know the employees better
    3) not many opportunities to move up unless you work full time for a long time

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get to know your employees and give them opportunities to move up!

    I worked at Wegmans

    Pros

Benefits were good before PT medical was cut. I met some great people at Wegmans. There were many things I learned on the job that I was able to take away to other positions, like the principles of Simplification.

    Cons

PT benefit cuts. Middle management is loose cannons. Unapproachable HR reps (I very rarely was able to get a meeting unless I emailed or went in on my day off). Disruptive ordering procedures. Constant out of stock issues from Distribution (as a stocker, it was impossible for me to get the right products in)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Practice what you preach! If caring is part of your "Who We Are values" it's turned from part of the company culture to a tag line slapped on My Wegmans Connect.

I worked at Wegmans part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Wegmans pays you a pretty decent salary, and I've heard most of the stores adhere to the "we're all family" policy.

    Cons

The Wegmans in Columbia doesn't understand how hard their employees work, they care about the customer too much, and the upper management only got there because their kiss-asses.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work as hard as your employees. Your job is to help us do better, not to sit there and watch us work.
